Meadowbrook Weekly Update
Week of September 20, 2020
I-Ready Diagnostic Testing
Last week, students began taking the i-Ready diagnostic assessment. This assessment is unique in that it will give us specific information about what your child knows and what he/she needs to work on next in math and reading. The purpose of this assessment is not to give your child a score or grade, but instead to determine how best to support your child’s learning.
Students will take the math assessment the week of September 14th, and the reading assessment the week of September 28th. Students will take the i-Ready assessment over the course of multiple days in short 45-minute segments. English and math teachers will be proctoring the assessment live over Zoom during the first part of their instructional block. Students will access the i-Ready assessment by going to MyPlan and finding the i-Ready icon.
In regular circumstances, students take their i-Ready assessments at school, but during these special times they might need your help in providing a supportive environment to take assessments at home. The i-Ready diagnostic assessment is an adaptive assessment and students are only expected to answer 50% of the questions correctly. It is important that you do not help your child with understanding or answering questions. Your child will benefit from your support and encouragement to ensure the information received accurately reflects what they know and what they need to work on next.
