BCS COVID Protocol Update

Wed., Sept. 7: Resources for You and Your Family

BCS Community:

I hope this message finds you having a great start to the school year. As we are mid-way through our third week of school, I want to provide you with some information to help guide your health and wellness throughout the school year.

We can all agree that we are in a different place then we were this time last year, and even the year before, as we experienced COVID-19 in our community. Berkeley County Schools continues to follow the guidance set forth by the WV Department of Education (WVDE) in collaboration with our local health department. When we are made aware of a positive COVID case, it is documented as part of the state COVID dashboard and health protocols are shared with the individual.

By using the link below you can view the updated protocols set forth by the WVDE as well as the number of cases (dashboard) being reported by school. Please review this information provided to assist you and your family in determining when you or your student should/should not attend school if or when not feeling well in accordance with our BCS Illness Policy.

Every student and BCS staff member matters. Each of you have a significant purpose within our school building and community and your health and wellness is important to me. See your school administrative team or school nurse if you have questions.

Thanks for being a part of the BCS community and thank you for supporting and caring for one another.

Working with the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, cases of COVID-19 will be monitored and updated during the school year.

Data reflects all COVID-19 cases reported directly to the school (at-home tests and laboratory). Cases may or may not have been in the school setting during their infectious period. Therefore, the data presented may not reflect actual transmission occurring in the school but the percentage of students and staff reported positive during a given timeframe to measure the total burden of COVID-19 on the school setting.(Dashboard provides data from Thursday-Thursday weekly).
