Updates from Ms. Riddick
So proud of all the classes who are making gains with I Ready! In the K-2 classes we have tried to push our students to improve their minutes on task and our overall pass rates as a class. The class with the highest passing rate and most students getting their 45 minutes of instruction gets the grade level dream catcher! I am excited to share this weeks winners!
Kinder- Vega 69% pass rate with only one student not meeting the 45 minute goal
First grade- Nesbitt 91% pass rate with ALL students meeting the 45 minute goal
Second grade-Cisneros 79% pass rate with only one student not meeting the 45 minute goal
Remember to check student progress weekly and encourage students who have low minutes. It is very important also to make sure no domains are turned off which is an indicator that students are struggling with certain lessons.
Here is the data I have collected from Dec. 4 to March 6.
Updates from Ms. Keeley
K-1 Math
Congratulations to the following teachers and classes that have a pass rate of 70% or higher and 100% of students meeting their minutes in iReady Math (I understand that attendance can be an issue so I do look to see if the majority of your class has met their target of 45 minutes)
Glickstein 100% with minutes 87% pass rate
Nesbitt 100% with minutes 86% pass rate
Kastner (1st) 100% with minutes 83% pass rate
Barth 100% with minutes 72% pass rate
I see quite a few teachers using the time in the morning to have students on iReady and get their minutes or XtraMath time started. What a great way to set the tone for the day. Also I know that some of you are using the iReady lessons to model difficult concepts for studetnts or as you see a certain lesson is not being passed. Please remember that the iReady toolbox is also available with lessons that might be needed for reteaching.
Please share your XtraMath account with me by clicking the share button on the left hand side and adding my email address. This way we can start rewarding students that are making the gains.
Science
Please remember to include a hands on lab with your science plans, not only is it fun and engaging, but the discussion that happens between students as well as learning how to be a scientist is valuable. Third, Fourth, and fifth grade students are tested on nature of a scientist standards such as collecting data, evidence v. opinion, repeated trials, following a procedure, analyzing their results. This is all part of discussion during a hands on lab and is an important component to really understanding science. Please check out the google expeditions link below that show content available for the virtual reality goggles as there are so many that are science based. Please see Ms. Kalin for virtual reality goggles.

March Madness
Here are the grade level leaders after our first week of March Madness! A HUGE shout out goes to Ms. Smith & Ms. Singewald, Ms. Castillo & Ms. Mulligan, and Ms. Craner -- they have nearly every student participating by taking at least one AR quiz in the last week! They are clearly in it to win it!! There is still time to participate and some of the contests are very close! The ice cold treats could be all yours!
