Mr. Glover's Weekly Update
August 27, 2023
Mr. Glover's Message
Congratulations, Raiders family for making it through the first full week here at Black Mountain Middle School. I'm happy to say that there have been a lot of foundational relationships that have been developed over this past week. This will go a long way in making sure that we are committed to our mission to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all of our students, educators, and family members. This week we will be holding our back-to-school night on Wednesday night with introductions beginning at 6:00pm. During this event we will have many of our collaborative partners (i.e., PTSA, EFBMMS, Science Olympiad, and others) on campus with tables set up to provide us all with information that will be valuable for any campaigns they have planned for the upcoming school year. Please make sure to stop by and meet with them to become an active partner with Black Mountain Middle School.
A few things to keep in mind for the back-to-school night event.
Parking will continue to be a concern with construction still going on at the front of the school. Please make arrangements to avoid the traffic as much as possible. If you live close, consider walking to the event. If you are able to carpool, consider sharing a ride with another family. We will have our educators park on campus to leave all street parking available for our families.
Thank you all for your continued support and cooperation as we collectively work through our traffic situation.
Please review the bullets below for the valuable information for the upcoming week.
Have a great rest of your day, Raider Families.

Back to School Night - Information & Schedule
First ASB Spirit Day - September 1st
This will be our 1st spirit day of the year. The day is "Wear Neon - Start the Year Off BRIGHT!" I hope that your student participates.
BMMS Essentials Presentation Ongoing
Last week our school’s leadership team presented to the humanities classes our BMMS Essentials Presentation. This presentation provides each student with the thorough breakdown of the expectations. Our administrators and counselors are able to have an informative conversation with the classes about our Core Values, introduction to the counselors and a clear definition of their role on campus, as well as clear expectations on some of our most important essential student policies. We have shared the BMMS Essentials Presentation with you all. We request that you please review the presentation with your child and to make sure that everyone is clear with the students' expectations for the year.
If you have any questions about any of the information within the presentation, please feel free to reach out to us here at the school.

If a student receives a detention from the school, the family will receive a notification from the school about the detention and the day it should be fulfilled. Late buses are only available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. There is NO late bus on Fridays.
Restroom Policy
In an effort to maintain our supervision and prevent inappropriate behavior in our student restrooms, we are enforcing the following policy during the school day. During the day the 1000 boys and girls restrooms, as well as the 200 girls restroom and the 300 Boys restroom will remain open for the entirety of the day. The remaining bathrooms will be open during all student free time (i.e. lunch and nutrition, passing periods). During Instructional time, these restrooms will be closed by the supervisor of these areas. Please make sure when you are releasing your students to direct them to the accessible facilities on campus.
PTSA Membership Drive Goal 🌺
For this school year PTSA is seeking to meet its membership goal of 275 active members. The current membership is at 149. Let’s help our collaboration partners meet their goal of 275 members by becoming an active member of the PTSA. All families are eligible and invited to join and actively participate as members of the PTSA. The Black Mountain Middle School PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) is a membership-based, volunteer organization dedicated to making each school year a rewarding and enriching experience for our students and their families. We provide financial support and volunteers to many of the enrichment programs offered at BMMS, including:
Adopt-A-Family
Educator Meals and Activities
After school Art classes
Ball Basket (during lunch)
Book Fair
Parent University
Reflections
Registration
Running Raiders
Membership is $16 to join, and the membership is the only campaign of the school year. If you are interested in joining or learning more about the PTSA, click here
