ELA WEEK 10
Mrs. Boyd
WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO
I really can't believe we are in the last full week of October! Time flies when you are having fun! Last week, we kicked off our fiction unit with drama. Students read a drama-version of "The Tell-Tale Heart" and "Sorry, Wrong Number" by Lucille Fletcher. The students did great reading out loud and had a blast getting into character!
Students are also analyzing mood and how authors create mood through setting, imagery, and word choice. Students will read some "Octoberish" poetry this week to emphasize the importance of mood in writing. They will also have a chance to showcase their knowledge of mood through their own writing.

Reading Goals
Students have three weeks to complete reading goals. Please be checking with your student on the progress they have made and what they still need to do to meet the goal. I have a few students who have already met their goal for the six weeks and could not be prouder! I will be sending I.R. progress reports out this week via paper and Seesaw.
