A Message from the Principal
We are very proud of all of our students and families who have continued to show resilience throughout the course of this e-learning period and have fully invested themselves into their studies. We have thoroughly enjoyed celebrating different theme days on a Thursday and we hope you all have, as a family, too.
We would like to take this time to wish all of our families a safe and blessed Ramadan Kareem, best wishes to you and your families, from the Al Rabeeh Family.
World Book Day
Well done to everyone who took part in and embraced World Book Day. Many of the students took part in some fantastic events and competitions throughout the week where everyone came together to celebrate our love of reading. The costumes on World Book Day were absolutely fantastic and even though we were not able to celebrate at school like we would have wished, it was brilliant to be able to celebrate with our friends through the 'Google Meets'.
Well done everyone, please upload your costume pictures to our whole school Padlet: https://padlet.com/philipyates1/htq249cu8n07ronn click on the link to see some of the tremendous costume efforts!
Nursery
In Nursery this week we have been learning how to form numerals from 0-9. In Phonics, our sound of the week was the 's' sound. The children found messy ways of writing the letter ‘s’ such as using chocolate syrup, peri peri sauce and flour. We are continuing to learn about 'Space' and our story this week was ‘Aliens love Underpants’ which is all about a group of mischievous aliens. Some children designed their own aliens too. We also learnt about what it is like to live on the International Space Station and we learnt some facts about Hazza Al Mansouri. Super work everyone, well done!
FS2
It's been another exciting week of Superhero fun in FS2. The children have been creating some fantastic Superhero Hideout dioramas, which look wonderful. Doubling of numbers and symmetry have both produced very practical activities. The children had fun too making Yuck Soup as part of phonics, embedding the 'ck' sound into their phonics awareness.
Check out Ahmed's video of his super work doubling numbers with his mum :)
Year 1
The Year 1 children have been working very hard this week and have produced some really exciting work! We have continued to explore 'time' and used our creative talents to make our own clocks. In English, we have been looking at plurals that end with -s and -es, discovering some tricky plurals along the way. Many children got incredibly creative with their 'habitat boxes'; they produced some beautiful habitats, remembering to include both animals and plants.
Check out the video of Maktoum who can order a sequence of events in relation to the time of the day!
Year 2
Year 3
This week Year 3 were studying how to interpret Data on Tables and represent this Data on both Pictograms and Bar Charts. In English students were identifying how to sort different adjectives according to their meanings and how to include powerful adjectives in their writing to describe nouns. Students also practised reading for fluency by accessing texts on the Oxford Owl Reading Tree website. In Humanities students have studied the life of the Explorer Christopher Columbus and wrote a diary entry in the first-person based on his adventures.
Year 4
Year 5
Year 6
Year 6 had the amazing opportunity of attending online Healthy Lifestyle sessions hosted by Manchester City's Abu Dhabi Academy! The students were reminded about eating healthy foods, drinking enough water, exercising regularly, and the importance of getting enough sleep. It was also great to be shown some ball skills that we can practice at home by a professional footballer!
This week in Maths students have had another challenging but productive week. The focus has been calculating the volume of three dimensional shapes. Through determination, students have shown they can do this, using the multiplication skills they have developed.
We have also been preparing for the holy month of Ramadan. We did a well-being activity involving some mindful colouring, to help us to focus and to reflect.
