Meet Our Instructors!
Shihui (Vivian) Yang
Born in China, Mrs. Yang is a native Chinese language speaker. She graduated from the University of Toronto in 2011 with an undergraduate degree in Asia Pacific Studies and Economics. After graduating from the University of Toronto, Mrs. Yang went back to China and became an English teacher. She taught in a private elementary school, and then a public high school in Southern China. In 2015, she came to the United States to study at Dallas Baptist University, where she received her master’s degree in education. After obtaining her master’s degree, she served as a Chinese teacher and also the Chinese language program coordinator at Legacy Preparatory Charter Academy in North Texas. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Dallas Baptist University in the educational leadership K-12 program.
Mrs. Yang taught foreign languages for over 7 years in both China and the United States. She believes the benefit of learning a foreign language is beyond achieving proficiency. More importantly, students gain meaningful cultural awareness by practicing foreign expressions and manners. The development of cultural awareness is essential for true respect and authentic communication.

Other than teaching, Dr. Ye is a collaborator with other professionals in the field, for a teaching framework integrating Chinese orthographic knowledge with the culture embodied in the formation of Chinese characters, with the goal to improve and enrich the teaching of Chinese characters for teachers.
