PARENT/ GUARDIAN SURVEY

EARLY OUT WEDNESDAY FOR STUDENTS- PARENT SURVEY

Springdale Public Schools Students and Families,

Springdale Public Schools is considering altering its Wednesday schedule to allow time for ALL Springdale educators to learn and grow professionally. Our current schedule does not allow all teachers to meet collaboratively. Research shows when teachers have time to work together to examine their practice, it has a direct impact on student achievement.

Summary:

1. Students would be released approximately 80 minutes early on Wednesdays.

2. Wednesday afternoon would be the weekly scheduled Collaborative Team Meeting (CTM) day.

3. The instructional school day would increase by 10 minutes, the length of the teacher contract day would not change. The additional 10-minutes will be added to the beginning of the day, the end of the day, or split between both. This will be determined using survey feedback and transportation needs.

4. Most after-school care programs will be able to accommodate the change in school schedules.

5. Student options

  • Ride the bus home (buses will pick up at dismissal time)

  • Parents can pick up

  • Attend pre-registered After School Care Programs

  • Attend scheduled appointments

6. Plans will be created to provide optional after-school support for students staying for activities sanctioned by the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA).
