Flow Charts and Subroutine
101
Flow Charts
Flow charts are two things:
1. A diagram of the sequence of movements or actions of people or things involved in a complex system or activity.
2. A graphical representation of a computer in relation to it's sequence of functions (as distinct from the data it processes).
What is a subroutine?
A set of instructions designed to perform a frequently used operation within a program.
In computer programming, a subroutine is a sequence of program instructions that perform a specific task, packaged as a unit. This unit can then be used in programs wherever that particular task should be performed. Sub-programs may be defined within programmes or separately in libraries that can be used in multiple programmes.
