COUNSELORS CORNER!
Anxiety, there are many different things the parents and guardians can do to help their child when they are feeling anxious. Your student is not alone, childhood anxiety has been becoming more common with over 4.4 million children from ages 3-17 being diagnosed with anxiety. Here are some things you can do to support your child when they are feeling anxious:
Remind your child that their feelings are valid and okay. Give them time and space to share how they feel without judgment.
Set a time each day/week to talk about their worries.
Help your child focus on what they can control.
Help your child develop ways to cope with and manage their anxiety, such as:
Deep breathing
Talking to you or another adult
Journaling or drawing
Focusing on what they can control
Using positive self-talk
Exercising
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

PBIS CORNER
What is PBIS?
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports is an important part of the school environment to encourage positive behavior. There are clear expectations throughout the school that are taught consistently throughout the year. The four expectations promoted at Field Local Schools are:
Safe
Outstanding
Accountable
Respectful
When students do not respond to teaching of the building or classroom expectations, we will view it as an opportunity for re-teaching, not just negative consequences. Students still receive consequences for negative behavior. The goal of the consequence is to teach students so they will not repeat the negative behavior.

KSU Art Enrichment
Kent State School of Art is offering Monday or Wednesday Art Enrichment for ages 5-14.
By combining art studio activities with discussions of art as it relates to different time periods and cultures, students come to understand the world of art better. Students are organized by cross-age groupings and work with a variety of media to develop their individual artistic skills. Art Enrichment is a student-teacher education program at Kent State University.
Example activities include drawing, painting (acrylic, tempera, watercolor), printmaking, clay, and 3D sculptural materials.
