"EXCELLENCE WITHOUT BOUNDARIES"
Principal Message
Your student attends a school that is focused on developing thinkers and learners, not only in the area of their academics, but in the decisions they make a young people. The decisions that are made during their middle school years shape who they are as life long learners and how they see connecting the the world around them. At ARMS we strive to have every experience be an opportunity to learn and grow into successful students and people.
It is my pleasure to begin our monthly Parent/Community online newsletter: ARMS Connect. The newsletter is designed to share:
- Principal message
- Cohort messages
- Campus Information / Updates
- Student and Staff Successes / Recognitions
- Upcoming Events/Meetings
Our collective attention toward students academic success is paramount. Student's time in class is when the most difference is made. Therefore their focus and attention to their own success is an expectation. Parent Conferences are in October and this time is valuable. It will give family members the opportunity to ask questions and listen to the successes and opportunities for growth about your student.
I encourage all parents to diligently check grades weekly (Parent Portal)
and communicate with teachers via email or phone. We are partners in the success of our students and I thank you for all you do!
Excellence without Boundaries!

ARMS FOR THE CURE 5K

The Race
Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® series is the world's largest and most successful education and fundraising event for breast cancer ever created. The first ever Race for the Cure was held in Dallas in 1982 and has since become the city's largest annual breast cancer fundraiser.
The event raises significant funds and awareness for breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.
This year parents, students, and staff of Ann Richards Middle School will be walking the 5K to support the survivors in our own lives. We would like for you to join our team. For more information contact Ms. A. Lewis antlewis@dallasisd.org or visit our site:

Greetings Parents,
At this time we would like to take this opportunity to inform perhaps some of you, and remind others that the Ann Richards Middle School Counseling Department is here to support both you and your child this school year and beyond. We would like to thank all the parents who came out to meet us on September 16, 2015 during the Coffee with the principal. During this time, you were able to learn about all the services we provide for your child and your family. Please know that as counselors we are always here to support the needs of your child both socially and academically. Please feel free to schedule an appointment to meet with us if ever you are in need of our services.

EXCELLENCE WITHOUT BOUNDARIES
Ms. Nix, Assistant Principal 7th Grade
Greetings Parents!!!
7th Grade year is off to a wonderful start! Our main focus this year is student academic achievement and positive behavior reinforcement. Students are working hard in class, doing a great job following procedures, and making it to class on time. As the end of the 6 week period comes, we are looking forward to celebrating the students who have accomplished an academic goal of all A’s and B’s on their report card
Thank you for your continued support of a successful 7th Grade Year.
Ms. Walker, Assistant Principal 8th Grade
Greetings Class of 2020 Parents!
The Class of 2020 is wired for excellence and we are experiencing great things here at Ann Richards Middle School! The start of the 2nd Six Weeks grading period is starting on October 3. I am looking forward to seeing each of you on Parent Conference Night on October 13, 2015. Your continued support of ARMS students at sports and extracurricular events is invaluable as well as needed.
8th graders are being prepared daily to continue to be on track for graduating from high school with the Class of 2020. They need to focus on three main areas to ensure they are moving towards this goal: Grades, Attendance, and STAAR mastery. Will your child have the G.A.S. to stay on track to being apart of the graduating Class of 202?
- Continue to support your student's success by ensuring they are working towards mastery of content in every class. As the school year progresses, academically they will be challenged with more rigorous work. They can do all that is expected of them.
- All 8th graders are fully uniformed daily when they are appropriately dressed, wearing their identification badge, and equipped with their binder of materials. The expectations have been set are strictly enforced. Partner with us by signing up for Parent Portal. This is good opportunity to take a proactive approach in monitoring your child’s academic performance and attendance.
- Students have to be here to learn the knowledge and skills being taught every day all day. As a grade level, our average daily attendance rate is 97%. This means that potentially 3% or 13 of the 422 8th graders are not on track to moving to high school at the end of the school year. We need your help in ensuring students are on time, present, and ready to learn.
Thank you for allowing us to partner with your family to work towards your child's academic success.
