Looking Back, Looking Ahead
Something groundbreaking took place 30 years ago. In 1991, Minnesota was the first state to pass a law allowing for the creation of charter schools. It wasn't long before Dr. Karen Rusthoven began her mission to open Community of Peace Academy, which officially welcomed students in the fall of 1995.
CPA began as a K-5 school serving 150 students. Today, we have grown and expanded several times, and we currently serve over 800 students in preschool through 12th grade. Looking back, it's easy to see that we have grown and adapted to suit the needs of our school community. And it's just as clear that we still uphold the values Dr. Rusthoven placed at the center of her mission.
What isn't as easy to see is the future. How will we grow and adapt in the years to come? We certainly never could have predicted what the past two years would look like. Even so, today we are a strong community of students, families, staff, and graduates. We may not know exactly what the future holds, but we know that the CPA community will always be a place of peace. Thank you for being a part of our school community!
