Summer Update
Dear Clinton Families,
I hope you are having a wonderful and restful summer!
I know everyone wants to hear who their new teacher will be, and so we are planning to mail postcards to all our students the week of July 26th. These will let each child know to which class they have been assigned. As you may have experienced in the past, sometimes we add or subtract teachers and have to make changes right up to the last minute, but we try to keep that to a minimum.
I have had a few questions about supplies. In elementary school, we provide all the basics (crayons, pencils, notebooks, etc.) and children are not required to provide anything. So don't go out an purchase a bunch of stuff. If teachers have a few small donations that are helpful in their classroom, they will let you know via email, mail, or at the Back to School Event on August 20th. Pretty much all our teachers hope students will arrive with a backpack, and it's very helpful if grades 1-6 also have a pair of headphones to use with the school digital devices.
Our teachers have been busy this summer! They are teaching summer school, and participating in professional development opportunities. Our 5th and 6th grade teachers, along with the administrative team, are attending a week long summer training in preparation to use the Summit Learning program. We are excited about this tool and what it will help us do for our students.
This year our school theme is “Clinton Cougars Never Stop”. We will be promoting a growth mindset as students, never stop learning, growing, trying, working, or being kind. As a school we will be focusing on social emotional skills, including self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, responsible decision-making, and relationship skills.
Academically we want our students to have a solid foundation in reading, writing and math skills so that they can apply them to real world experiences in life. We want to meet student’s individual learning needs to help them grow from wherever they are at.
We look forward to a great year of academic and personal success for our students as we partner with parents to help our student grow.
Sincerely,
Julie Lundell

PTA
The PTA is looking for parents interested in serving on the board next year. Help is needed with Reflections, Red/Green Ribbon Week, and someone to serve as the PTA Secretary. If you are willing to help please contact Jen Martinez at : jenim20212@gmail.com
Volunteers are needed for all kinds of activities, whether you are available in the daytime, or the evening, there is something that will fit your schedule.
It's a great way to participate in school events, and get to know other parents.
