WJH SYMPHONIC BAND
April Update
In Case You Missed It
Last month, the Symphonic Band performed at District Festival in Zachary, and received a sweepstakes trophy. In order to receive this trophy, the band has to receive the highest possible score from each of the four judges. The Symphonic Band performed and behaved extremely well on this trip. We have now qualified for State Festival on April 21st. We are extremely proud of our Symphonic Band. We are really looking forward to State!
Rhythm Chart Testing
As you know, we have two rhythm chart tests each 9 weeks. Grades are being posted today for our 1st rhythm chart test. We have one more on April 18th. As always, students may retake these tests as often as they'd like. However, Every student needs to pass 2 charts before May 13th! After this date, grades will be final.
Remaining Performances
State Festival: Thursday, April 21st (Details will be sent via email soon)
Band Tour: Monday, May 2nd (During the school day. Students need orange polos for this)
Spring Concerts: Thursday, May 12th at night and Friday, May 13th during the school day. Spring Concerts work the same way as the December Concerts did. Information can be found in your band handbook.
Allen Vizzuti is Coming to Walker High!
Don't forget to turn in a permission slip if you'd like your child to attend this event. Allen Vizzuti is a world famous trumpet player. This is a rare opportunity to see him here in Walker for free! Click here for permission slip and information. Parents and family are welcome to attend!
Summer Band Camp
We highly recommend signing your child up for our summer band camp. This will be a fun and very educational experience for each student. Click here for the flyer.
We also have a theory camp. This is something extra for students who want to study how music is written, and how different instruments read different notes. Click here for the flyer.
