K2 and 1st grade go to Wolf Hollow
K2 and 1st grade students visited Wolf Hollow in Ipswich MA. Wolf Hollow is a wolf sanctuary. In K2, students read many fairy tales about wolves and talked about misconceptions. It was amazing to see the dynamics of the "pack" and to see that these animals truly are "ecosystem managers".
Congratulations to Ms. Sparrow!
We are extremely excited and proud to announce that Ms. Luisa Sparrow, our fifth and sixth grade intellectual program teacher, was recently announced as a finalist for the Massachusetts Teacher of the Year Award. Ms. Sparrow joins three other educators from across the state as finalists with the award set to be announced in September. This is a very well-deserved honor for Ms. Sparrow and reflective of the incredibly talented teaching team at the Perry as a whole.

Perry Tech Goes Home!
We have launched two awesome programs this spring to help get technology into the homes of our students. First, Ms. Rozas and Ms. Flores taught the Tech Goes Home program with students and families that resulted in 15 early childhood students taking home an iPad for their own use and learning more about how to maximize technology. Be on the lookout for another opportunity in the Fall!
In addition, in partnership with Boston Public Schools, we were able to provide all students in Grades 4, 5 and 6 a Chromebook to use at home for the rest of the school year. This included both our general ed and special education students.

Keep It Moving Southie
South Boston’s Brownie Troops 64224 and 70041 (which include a number of Perry students) will be launching Keep It Moving Southie in connection with Cradle to Crayons. Please read below for more information on this initiative:
Keep It Moving Southie Background:
This past April, in recognition of Earth Day, South Boston Brownie Troops 64224 and 70041 learned about the catastrophic impacts of textile waste on the environment through a lesson on using resources wisely - part of the Girl Scout Law and words scouts pledge to live by. The troops/girls (including many troop members who go to the Perry), decided to do something to stop clothing waste in our community by offering an alternative. This led to the creation of a clothing drive for kids in partnership with Cradle to Crayons (https://www.cradlestocrayons.org/boston/ ) and the launch of Keep It Moving Southie.
We congratulate our girls for their desire to address this very important issue while helping other local kids in the process. The goal is to keep our used or unwanted items moving and out of landfill.
