Maybe you’ve heard the phrase, “Don’t ask the question if you don’t want to know the answer.” Here in the Sioux Falls School District, we believe meaningful and two-way communication is invaluable to achieving our mission ‘to educate and prepare each student to succeed in a changing world.’ That’s why we are, once again, launching our SFSD Views & Voice surveys where students, parents, business partners, and community leaders can provide ideas to improve education in your public schools. We are committed to continuous improvement and feedback is truly important to us.
Recently, we surveyed parents and teachers for feedback on what went well and what could be improved specifically at the start of the school year. You responded in a BIG way! More than 1,200 parents gave us suggestions about how to improve traffic flow for pick-ups and drop-offs and provided ideas about teacher meet-and-greets, school pictures, and a host of other topics. Nearly 500 staff members took the opportunity to share details about their favorite in-service sessions and ideas that help them prepare their classrooms before students arrive on the first day.
While in-person communication is always favored, it is not always possible in a district of our size. Short surveys through SFSD Views & Voice provide a quick opportunity for you to share your thoughts on a specific topic each month. We value that feedback and rely on it to shape plans for the coming year. If you haven’t participated yet, there will be more opportunities this year as we are posing questions each month. We are asking the questions, and we want to know the answers!
Community engagement is a priority for us. We are committed to making improvements to the experiences you and your children have in our public schools. We are aiming to be the best school district in the nation, and with your input, we will continue working toward that goal.

Class of 2023 Senior After Graduation Party Planning Information
Seniors and Senior Parents and Guardians,
The Class of 2023 is about to begin their Senior year and before you know it graduation will be here. Plans are underway for the Senior After–Graduation Party. We are happy to announce that we have secured Air Madness for the night of graduation May 21, from 10pm to 5am. The last two years this facility has been used for the party and it has been successful, providing a safe environment, many activities, entertainment and food. Please visit our website (needs updating for 2023 class) www.lhsseniorpats.com to see some of the activities Air Madness has to offer.
To pull this together it takes time and participation. There is planning, fundraising and chaperoning.
One major part of fundraising is operating the concession stands at the indoor events at Lincoln. (Volleyball, basketball, wrestling, cheer, gymnastics….) The proceeds of the concessions will help offset the cost of the venue. As with everything nowadays we have seen a large increase in the per student rate. We have heard the biggest reason students did not register for the Senior Class Party was the cost per ticket. Therefore, we would like to keep the cost per ticket the same as last year.
Students, parents, families can work these shifts. Students can use their shifts in the concessions as volunteer hours for National Honor Society and other volunteer needs.
The link for this will be in the school newsletter, posted on our website www.lhsseniorpats.com and be sent out at various times through email.
We all know the saying many hands make light work, so we invite all Senior parents to be a part of this special night for our students.
Ways to be Involved:
1) Serve on the planning committee and assist in the behind the scenes with details, fundraising, planning. If you are interested, please share your information on this link to Signup Genius and we will be in touch. We are looking for people to serve on the board and who are interested in helping with registration, social media, web page mgt, concession supervisors.
2) Work Concessions and take part in other fundraising.
3) Chaperone at the event. (Needs will be provided in May)
Have a great Senior year experience and we will keep you informed throughout the stages of planning, serving and fundraising. If you need more information, please visit our website or email us at email@example.com
