Petroleum Is Devistating

The Deepwater Horizon
The Deepwater Horizon is a story about an oil rig that had some testing gone wrong. They say it was the worst oil disaster in U.S. history. 11 men died aboard the Deepwater Horizon the night of April 20, 2010. The 11 men are Jason Anderson, Aaron Dale Burkeen, Donald Clark, Stephen Ray Curtis, Gordon Jones, Roy Wyatt Kemp, Karl Kleppinger Jr, Dewey A. Revette, Shane M. Roshto, Keith Blair Manuel, and Adam Weise. The fire kept going for 87 days and it spilled an estimated 210 million gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico. The reason is , BP supervisors wanted to test the oil pressure on the kill line, so they did and they got 1395 in pressure, and that is dangerous. When they saw the pressure seconds later oil shot up through the pipes rapidly. Then oil fumes went into the air vents and it got very hot, so the oil rig was now a big bomb. Moments later the oil rig exploded killing the 11 men that were mentioned earlier. The BP supervisors were charged with manslaughter.

Disadvantages of petroleum
It produces hazardous substances. The production of petroleum, especially refining, produces harmful and toxic materials, including plastic. Take note that oil exists as a mixture of hydrocarbons with traces of sulfur and other compounds, which are elements of harmful gases, such as carbon monoxide, and plastic.
It's transport can cause oil spills, if petroleum spills in bodies of water, adverse effects in marine life are expected. Spills have caused massive ocean pollution, causing death of thousands of animals and fishes each year. For example, the BP oil spill had caused billions of dollars in losses.
