Western Day: February 27th

Allen Elementary will be celebrating Western Day on Monday, February 27th. Students will learn more about the Western and Rodeo culture and traditions with fun experiences. Students and staff are invited to wear their favorite Western Day attire on Monday, February 27th.

**Western Day events are only for students. Due to spacing and safety, no parents or guests will be able to attend the Western Day events.**

Parent Survey

Our district values your feedback! Allen Elementary is excited to invite you to participate in our Family Survey. We are currently surveying families in order to gain insight into your perception of our school and district effectiveness. To help us learn how to make your child’s schooling experience as positive and beneficial as possible, we need your feedback.

The survey shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to complete and will be a valuable source of information for us as we work to make improvements in our school and district. Families should take the survey focusing on the experience of their eldest child.
You may complete the survey online between Monday, February 13th and Friday, March 3rd using a computer, tablet, or smartphone by visiting the site https://surveys.panoramaed.com/nisd/all106.

We thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses. If you have any questions about the survey administration, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 210-397-0800 or allen@nisd.net.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Early Outs no later than 2:40 PM

Effective Tuesday, January 3rd we will no longer allow early outs after 2:40 PM. If a parent arrives after 2:40 PM to sign their child out they will be asked to wait until regular dismissal at 3:00 PM. The reason for this change is that after 2:40 PM many of our student are in transition and preparing for dismissal which makes it difficult for our office staff to locate the child while preparing for regular dismissal.

We appreciate your understanding and support.

Reading and Math Family Monthly

Each month we will be sharing Reading and Math challenges for our families to participate in. Please see the link below to see our first installment of our Reading and Math Family Monthly

NISD Learner Profile: February Focus "Leader"

This month we will focus on the characteristics of a "leader."

A leader models the way while encouraging others.

An effective leader:

-Demonstrates positive and motivating behaviors

-Unites the team under a shared vision

-Inspires action toward reaching goals

As we will be working with students on being creators, we also invite you to extend the learning at home. Each week during February, I will link a child friendly video that is connected to being a critical thinker. I hope that you and your family are able to view these videos together and learn more about being a critical thinker.
