The Pershing Elementary Weekly Newsletter
Good Evening Pershing Families!
First, I want to thank you for your incredible patience and perseverance last Friday with the switch to Authenticated Zoom accounts. The Senior Director of Tech Services shared that in addition to the Zoom Authentication process, the SJUSD Portal had unexpected issues that further complicated access issues for many families. Lastly, our office phone general voice mail box was not working last week until late Friday. The voice mail box and the SJUSD Portal are repaired. If you have any challenges with any of three, please email me at email@example.com.
The Senior Director of Tech Services created an updated helpful video of how to sign into the Zoom platform using a student Chromebook: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_DcduwRu3nOXPvxBzb3Z-KiOaLPczhtW/view
Below are directions shared in the video are as follows:
1. Student logs onto SJUSD Portal.
If these steps do not work for your student, please reach out to let us know by calling 916-979-8076, or call Tech Services at 916-971-7195.
Lastly, we know these many recent changes have added additional stress and anxiety for many. Our staff are doing everything they can to ease these challenges, and it has been as challenging for them to navigate. If there are changes and updates, short update messages will be sent out to notify families. When attempting to navigate these Technology tools for learning, if your child is not able to access the tools because of technical problems or internet connectivity issues, email your child's teacher and your child will be marked present.
If you have questions, please call us at 916-979-8076 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Mrs. Kendra Shelton

Communication with SJUSD Staff Using Zoom
Effective last Friday, August 28th, all Zoom meetings hosted by SJUSD staff using the SJUSD Zoom account will require attendees to be using a Zoom account, as well. If they haven’t done so already, parents/guardians, community members and others will need to sign up for a free Zoom account using their personal email address in order to meet virtually with a SJUSD staff member. (The authentication process required of student Zoom accounts is NOT required for non-students).
To create a Zoom account, visit Zoom and click the “Sign Up, It’s Free” button and provide a personal email address.
