pH Range

  • Pure Nitric Acid has a very low pH where as Nitric Acid diluted for safe uses in school experiments is between 4-5

How to calc. pH and [H+]

  • Calculate pH and [H+]

  • pH = -log10[H+]

  • [H+] = 10-pH

How to test pH

  • use test strips

Real Life example

  • Can be used in explosives, fertilizers and the purification and extraction of metals.
