5 ESSENTIALS SURVEY
Parents are encouraged to take the “Illinois 5Essentials Survey.” The 5 Essentials lets teachers, students, and parents help improve their schools by identifying strengths and weaknesses in their school’s climate and learning conditions.
The 5Essentials Survey is a 25-minute research-based survey. Responses will be completely confidential. Please help us with this as we need to hear your voice on how our school is doing. In order to have viable data, we need a minimum of 20% of parents to respond. The survey deadline is March 11, 2022. Thank you very much for your participation in this important survey. Click on this link, then select Kendall County, then search for our school.Erin's Law Presentations-Kindergarten, 2nd and 3rd Grades
Community Unit School District #308 provides comprehensive education for sexual abuse and sexual harassment awareness and prevention in all of our schools. This education is in alignment with “Erin’s Law,” which requires that all public schools in the state of Illinois provide this programming on an annual basis. Each school year, SD308 partners with Mutual Ground, Inc’s. Sexual Abuse Prevention Education Department to provide programming to our students. Mutual Ground’s Prevention Specialists are trained to teach this program, and have been providing instruction in our district for over 25 years.
Our building social worker will present this program in grades Kindergarten, 2nd Grade, and 3rd Grade during the month of February. This program will discuss topics at an age appropriate level for our students as outlined below. Click on the button below to read the entire letter from Mr. Rainaldi.

Valentine's Day
Additionally, as we have done in lieu of classroom parties for Halloween and before Winter Break, students will do academic-related activities in their classrooms related to Valentine's Day.
Car Line Reminders
As you know, the safety of our students is always our top priority. As the weather changes, there is a need to remind our families of the safe, recommended arrival/dismissal procedures that have been established by our community. During arrival, please do not park and have students walk through the drop-off line. Please be sure to pull all the way forward to the end of the building to drop off students to help reduce the wait time for all families who are dropping off students.
There are two safe options for student dismissal: students either ride the bus home, or parents are to pick up students by following our parent pick-up line procedures (again, pulling all the way forward to allow for multiple cars to be stopped for pickup). The Aurora Police Department will continue to be present from time to time. They have asked we remind our families of the following information:
Cell phone usage is strictly prohibited in school zones.
The speed limit in school zones when children are present is 20 mph.
Make sure all children are buckled up properly.
Please also remember that our staff is taking the time to help direct traffic and keep staff, students, and families safe during our drop-off and pick-up times. Please obey their direction as they are trying to keep everyone safe. We appreciate your alertness and attention to procedures.
Thank you for your continued support and for keeping our students safe!
