Lost and Found
Still overflowing. We will begin to sort through lost and found to find items with names on them and try to return to rightful owners, however this is not always possible. Items left behind after parent/teacher conferences will be donated.
No Umbrellas at Recess
Please remind your student that they should leave their umbrella at home or in the classroom if it must come to school. There are to be no umbrellas brought to recess as they can become more of a problem than a help. Students should instead dress appropriately for the weather.
Lunchroom Message
- Did you know the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends to aim for less than 25 grams (about 6 teaspoons) of added sugar per day for children 2 years of age and older. Link here for more information on how to reduce sugar in your child's diet.
- Looking for donations of plastic forks.
- Did you know we have a "Pay it Forward" box in the lobby where you can donate cash to help pay off students' lunch balance?!
Halloween Costumes
If your child would like to wear a costume to school on Halloween, they are welcome to do so. Another FUN celebratory option is to wear PJs to school on this day. Please remember that we do not allow kids to wear full facial masks; scary masks, blow-up costumes; or have toy/prop weapons of any kind. Also, face paint must be minimal and not too scary. Students should still be able to go outside and wear appropriate clothing for the weather. Thank you for understanding. Let us know if you have any questions!
We'd like to welcome Ms. Brooke to the Harborview/TCLL family!

Events
Friday Fun Night - October 27 - TONIGHT!
This event is a fundraiser for PTA. PTA funds all sorts of great things at Harborview including Discovery Southeast Nature studies in every classroom.
Drop off and pick up inside the lobby, not outside. Sign in and out by an adult and provide a reliable contact number. Kindergarten students may not be dropped off and must be with an adult at FFN. No charge for the supervising adult.
Picture Retakes - November 1st
If your student missed picture day or you need a retake of your students' photo, we will have Campus Photography at the school on November 1st. If you haven't ordered your students' photos yet, go to Campus Photography website and choose "prepay events" and find "Harborview". If you need a retake and have already purchased and received a packet you will have to return the original picture packet to the photographer.
Parent/Teacher Conferences - November 8 & 9
Keep an eye out for a message from your students' teacher about signing up for a conference on one of these days.
Help with the book fair
Please contact our librarian, Mr. Gilbert, if you are able to help out with the book fair during the school day. james.gilbert@juneauschools.org

Become a Member
Did you know that if 100 Harborview and TCLL families, staff and teachers paid the $15 membership dues, that would cover more than half of the funds we need to cover Discovery SE in every classroom?!
Become a member and we will be able to do fewer fundraisers! Use the membership form below! The only commitment is to give us your contact info.
Geography Challenge
Week 5
Question: What is the name of the imaginary line that runs through the center of the world maps and divides the world into North and South halves?
Answer: The Equator! Fun fact - it's not always hot on the Equator - there are even mountains with glaciers close to the Equator!
Winner: This week our winner came from Mr. Josh's class, congratulations Rocio Contreras!
