ASHA Membership Dues Renewal
ASHA receipt and card due JANUARY 31st, 2019!!!!
ASHA reimbursement is dependent upon you sending in your card and receipt to Ebony Dunham. If you forget to do this by the deadline, you will NOT be reimbursed!!! Don't let this happen to you.
Send your updated copy your BOE license and 2019 ASHA card and receipt to Ebony Dunham at ebony1.dunham@cms.k12.nc.us or 670-EC at the Smith Family Center or in person.
Childhood Apraxia of Speech
Thank you to Traci Andrews, Cynthia Jenkin, and Betsy Munsell for compiling this amazing Power Point to guide us through identification, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Power point linked here and can be found on the SLP Resource Library in Google Drive.

Important Dates
- 1/18/18 - End of 2nd quarter-Get your progress notes done!!
- 1/21/19 - Holiday
- 1/22/19 - Teacher Work Day and make up day for schools closed on 12/11/18
- 2/1/19 - Mileage due
Progress Reports Due!!!
2nd quarter ends 1/18/19-start working on your progress notes. Progress notes should be in SOAP note format including your credentials, (Taylor Placek, M.Ed, CCC-SLP-for example).
For students with RSSD use EasyIEP documentation wizards. The "Progress Report" option is no longer a drop down under treatment type. It is recommended to use "Contacts" instead.
Prek-4 year old community evaluations
School based SLP’s doing the 4 year old community evaluations- Please feel free to call or email Heather Skeen (980-343-2728/heather.skeen@cms...)if you have questions about placement options.
- Once placement is final – send the folder to Heather to get services started.
- If the services are in a daycare make sure you have the name and address of the daycare on a sticky note on the front of the folder.
- All documents should be in an EC folder, hole punched and braided.

AT Make It Take It
Just a reminder that the next Make It Take It Session is going to be Thursday 1-17-19 at Smith Family Center in Room A-1. It is a Drop In from 8:30 to 3:30. They will have sample materials available for you to look at and make. They will also have a few new things for those of you who have attended in the past. Hope you can make it!

Reminders
- Check out EC updates on the Exceptional Children Homepage.
- Mileage is due on February 1st. Submit via Lawson Self-Service with the department code of 2 796801 5210 339. For destinations other than school locations, please include the address. Do not include student specific information
- Compliance : All compliance updates as well as information from CF meetings is posted in the 2018-2019 Compliance Updates page. You can access this on the EC website in Related Links > Compliance > 2018-2019 Compliance Updates
- Technology: Reminder to plug in your laptop using the Ethernet cable once a month to get necessary updates of district policies
- Email: E-mails can be an effective way to communicate with the students’ IEP team members and support providers. However, please be cautious and keep your e-mails to information and data sharing. As a reminder, your work emails are part of a student’s record, therefore copies can be requested by families and attorneys to view. Don't put anything in an email that you wouldn't be comfortable with a student's family or attorney viewing!

- Link to EC Contacts including list of SLPs at each school
- Stephanie Dorton, at Metro, is who to contact if you have a student transferring to Metro School. Please contact PRIOR to the IEP meeting.
- Student transitioning to Hospital/Homebound: Contact your Lead.
- Leslie Bass is the contact for English-Language Learners: consultations, intervention questions, screenings, and evaluation referrals.
- Diagnostic Summary and Screening Template
- Requests (Evals/Protocols/Meeting Support/Interpreters)
- Upon renewal of NC Board of Examiners AND ASHA License send copy of receipt to Ebony Dunham
