A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Families,

We are completing our last full week of distance learning, and I believe I am hearing a collective sigh of relief. This is certainly not the way we would have predicted our school year to end when we began back in August, but I am grateful for everyone pulling together to make it as successful as possible. On Monday, you should have received an email from the office regarding the pick up and drop off of materials at the beginning of June. Please email or call the school office if you have any questions.

I know that you have questions about next school year. The Diocese of Cleveland established a Fall 2020 Task Force comprised of the diocesan leadership team as well as principals from various schools across the diocese. They have been meeting regularly to provide guidance based on directives from Governor DeWine and information from the Ohio Department of Education. They are preparing for different scenarios based on how things progress in terms of the virus. They hope to have recommendations soon.

Thank you for all that you are doing for your children and working with us during this time!

Sincerely,

Diane Raguz, Principal

Academic Awards 2020

Although we were not able to hold our Academic Recognition Program for grades 6-8 this year, we still want to recognize those students who excelled in one or more areas. You will be impressed by the large number of students who appear on this list. Their hard work, diligence, and motivation are to be applauded. Congratulations to each one of these students!

These students presented their science fair projects digitally for the virtual District 5 Science Day judging. Ella Slemc for her project entitled "Don't Sugar-Coat It - Analyzing Glucose Content in Common Drinks" received an Excellent rating, Nick Speyer for his project entitled "Off With Their Heads - Studying the Effect of Magnetic Force Fields on Regeneration in Planaria" received a Superior rating as did Zoltan Kotrebai for his project entitled "Energy Efficiency of LED Lighting - Investigating Reasons for LED Light Efficiency and Savings in Energy Costs". Additionally, Zoltan was awarded 1st prize in his category of Physics and Astronomy and Best in Category (Middle School) by the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers. Finally, the Ohio Tuition Trust Authority awarded Zoltan with an alternate gift certificate. Best wishes to Nick and Zoltan who have qualified for State Science Day. Athletic Association News

St. Paschal Baylon Knights Athletics – Fall Sports

We hope everyone is doing the best they can in this new environment. For St. Paschal Baylon sports, we are preparing for a fall season to take place. However, we are in a lot of unknown. We prefer to not charge for registration at this point, as we understand the impact of COVID-19 is different across families. Currently, we are asking for a level of interest for all fall sports in the form of pre-registration. Once we get better details from our governor, and CYO we can open up for formal registration, and collect fees.

As you know, a lot of work goes into prepping for the fall season. We would like to know the level of interest for your child(ren) in fall sports by filling out the form here: https://forms.gle/CVnLKnLatQPxCArt7

You will need to fill out the form for each child independently.

Schoolbelles Uniforms Needs Your Feedback

We received the following information from Schoolbelles:

I hope you and your families are healthy and safe.

We are discussing the changes to how orders will be placed later this summer, anticipating that our stores are not going to be utilized as much, or maybe not even at all. To help us prepare for the new "normal", here is a link to a survey to ask our customers how they are planning to order uniforms for the back-to-school season. If our stores are not going to be used as much or at all, we will be prepared to increase our phone order and main warehouse shipping capacity.

Please use this link, https://conta.cc/2Z8IbF9 , to give your feedback.

Thank you for your help in this matter, stay safe.
