Happy Friday Firebird Families, it's been another terrific week here at Minocqua J1 Schools! Several grades have had the chance to go on some awesome field trips, and everyone has enjoyed all the snow during their recess time.

There are lots of fun activities and events coming up in the coming weeks and months, there's much to look forward to!

Minocqua J1 Drama Productions presents... "Frogspell!"

Performances of "Frogspell" are Friday, February 19 at 6:00 pm and Saturday, February 20 at 2:00 pm. This is a fun, whimsical production for the whole family - come support our hardworking young actors, and enjoy an evening (or afternoon) of theater!

Turn in your Box Tops!!

The next round of Box Tops are due on Friday, February 19. Box Tops are a great way to earn extra money for our schools!

Loop Around the Lake 2016

Loop Around the Lake returns on Saturday, February 27 with a 5K candlelit event starting at 6:00 pm at The Thirsty Whale on Lake Minocqua. Following the event there will be food and a bonfire, with our Wish Lantern illumination at 7:30 pm.

Pre-registration fees - Individual: $25, Family: $65
Day-of registration fees - Individual: $35, Family: $75

"Attendance Matters" Program

The Milwaukee Bucks and Wendy’s are pleased to announce that "Attendance Matters" will be in place again during the 2015-2016 school year.


Through this program, any student who achieves perfect classroom attendance during the month of February will receive a special complimentary Buck's ticket. In addition, student attendees will receive a free kids meal or single combo meal at Wendy’s and the opportunity to shoot a post-game free throw on the Bucks court!


Attached is a a calendar for students to chart their progress throughout the month of February. Let's emphasize to our kids the importance of being in school, and help them achieve this reward for great attendance!

Fly @ the Library!

Saturday, February 6, at 9:00 am.The Lakeland Radio Controlled Flying Club invites aviation enthusiasts of all ages to a multimedia presentation on the role of models in the history of flight. Also featured are displays and a chance to try out the R/C flight simulator. Club members will be on hand to answer questions. Bring family and friends and "fly" at the library!

Girls on the Run Seeking Coaches

Do you want to inspire and encourage strong, confident, and healthy 3rd-5th grade girls? If so, Girls On the Run of the Northwoods is seeking three coaches at MHLT for the 2016 Spring Season! Coaches facilitate lessons and practice two days a week after school,for 10 weeks. The season runs from March 1-May 21, and we end with the Celebratory 5K Fun Run at Torpy Park. Coaches receive coaches training, free CPR, and can receive a DISCOUNT on their child's registration! Please consider joining our team to inspire young girls to be joyful, compassionate, kind and healthy!
