Student Support Services' Corner
Here is a short message from Ms. Stromberg to be a more well rounded Falcon!
As we approach the end of our first month of school you can make self-careπ
a part of your daily routine
Self care knows no boundaries. It is something that everyone, without any exclusions, can benefit from practicing on a daily basis. True Self-care is not selfish not self-centered, it is simply keeping yourself the focus of your own life and paying attention to how you feel in each moment, speaking up for yourself and communicating clearly.
We tend to put other needs before our own and it is important to remember, that we cannot fill another's cup from our own empty cup.
Practice being good to yourself by:
Show kindness towards yourself
Mindfulness and deep breathing
Exercise
Eat healthy
Get plenty of sleep
Laugh
Positive emotions can improve our mental and physical well-being and can:π
Improve our coping skills
Broaden our thinking
Become more optimistic
Become more resilience
We need 5 positive interactions for every 1 negative interaction ππ
Surround yourself around positive people (negativeπ people can be contagious)
Make best friends (find someone you have a lotπ in common with)
Give unexpectedly (a hug,π smile or praise someone)

Β· NEW Parenting LGBTQIAP2 + Children β All Grades
LGBTQIAP2+ -- A list of initials, numbers, and symbols that describes a vibrant community of individuals keeps changing. The dynamic nature of the list, while potentially confusing, reflects the ongoing efforts of the community to both represent and welcome individuals with unique and evolving ways of defining themselves with regard to biological sex, gender identity, romantic attraction, sexuality, spirituality, and advocacy. Participate in a conversation focused on parenting and caregiving LGBTQIAP2+ children.
Monday, October 12th from 6:30pm-8:00pm Online Course via Zoom
Class fee: $16/individual or $27/couple
Β· Preparing Positively for Puberty β TK-8th Grade
We can prepare our children for puberty by teaching them what to expect as their bodies transition from childhood to adulthood. Learn how to break down "the big puberty talk" into tiny talks that are more comfortable for both caregivers and children. Participants will review resources such as books and web sites that can simplify the process of starting a tiny talk. Activities that can promote a positive and practical attitude toward this important life stage will be discussed.
Monday, October 26th from 6:30pm-8:00pm Online Course via Zoom
Class fee: $16/individual or $27/couple
Please note, scholarships are available to parents who may be in need. Parent can contact the Caring Connections Center for more information.
