Pine Island Parent Press

February 2018

From the Principal's Desk...

With the second half of the school year well under way, I want to thank everyone for your continued support of our students, teachers, and school as we collectively strive to provide optimal opportunities for learning each and every day. In addition, I want to also welcome our new families to Pine Island and trust that you will find yourselves to be a part of an outstanding and supportive learning community.

February is a great time to cuddle up and read a book together, play math games, review homework and get outside to enjoy the snow. As we enter into another month of winter, it is important to make sure that students are in school, on time, and ready to learn. Though we are looking forward to our next Parent Teacher conferences in March, we hope that if you have any concerns or questions, regarding your child's education and/or time here at school, that you contact your student's teacher. Communication is one of the building blocks of a strong educational foundation. Stay Warm!

Flu Season

It's that time of year again, please listen to your child if they are not feeling well before school. Do not send them if you have a fever, diarrhea, or are vomiting. It makes your child miserable AND also exposes their classmates. If you child is too ill to go out for recess, they are too ill to attend school. All student in attendance will participate in recess activities.

Dress for the Weather

Please be sure to send students to school appropriately dressed for the weather. Our student spend time outside during the school day and it is very important that they come to school with a warm coat, hat, gloves, snow pants, and boots. Our school policy is that the student go outside for recess unless the temperature or windchill is 0 or below.
