TRUE NORTH: SCN FOOTBALL VALUE SYSTEM

Moving into the 2023 season, I wanted to freshen up our Northstar Mentality. Ten years ago, our 2013 class developed the Iron Star Code. Each point on the 5-pointed star is recognized to represent one belief that our program will be built on. Each point on the star is equal to the one before it. The values of Leadership, Investment, Selflessness, Accountability, and Preparation make up our North Star. In the center of the completed stars lies the T.E.A.M. For the past ten seasons and every moment in between, we have remained consistent in our steadfast belief in these five values. They are our "True North". These beliefs will be our compass in all we do as a program on and off the field. Much like the Northstar in maritime days, we will use our "True North" as the compass we will follow in the journey to the elite.

For this reason, we will be renaming our Iron Star Code as the St. Charles North "True North" mentality. I am proud of these words and what they mean. I have seen them transform lives, including my own. I hope you can share in our "True North" words and discuss these values with your son or daughter as much as possible. These behaviors win, and belief must exist in our journey to the elite. As we say, championship behaviors preceded championships. We must commit ourselves to these habits until they become our rituals.

I am passionate about these ideologies. I have spent the past ten years working relentlessly to develop this program and the people who are a part of it. While teaching is my job, coaching is my calling. I want to make this program the best high school athletics program in Illinois. I do not say this to toot my own horn; I am sharing this with you to provide insight into what I envision this program can be. The bottom line is that this program is significant to me, as are all of you. I cannot wait to take on the journey of this coming season.

Message from Coach Pomazak

Stars Family,

As we enter this final week of our June semester, thank you for the investment and selflessness your families have shown in allowing your children to participate in our summer curriculum. This week, the last of June, will be our incoming freshman's first football week. It is an unbelievably exciting time! We have over 50+ freshmen who are looking to join our football family. Our staff is eagerly awaiting their arrival. We promise to uphold our mission, vision, and purpose and provide them with an elite experience that has become synonymous with SCN football.

This past week was fantastic; I am humbled by our players and coaches each day we are together. There is so much more to this experience than football. Our players understand this, and they believe in a greater purpose. That is what makes our football family unique. We allow our True North to guide us in our lives both on and off the field. As you will see, our players are selfless with their time. They are finding leadership within their own lives. They invest in causes more significant than the game, prepare to compete at the highest levels, and are selfless with their time by giving back to the community.

This year's motto is "It takes what it takes." What does this mean? It means that we understand that to be elite, there is a price that must be paid. To be elite, our choices are limited. To be elite, it will take whatever it takes. We prepare our program each day to answer that challenge and prepare for when the moment arrives when it will genuinely take what it takes to succeed.

I am so very excited to continue this journey with all of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

EARN YOUR STRIPES '23

The EYS Platoon Challenge is closing out its first semester, much like the depths charts separation. Our EYS challenge is built around building behaviors that win. Our platoon leaders lead their mates through challenges, philanthropies, and events. It is not easy, and it reinforces that being a Star football player, while easy to get into, is hard to stay a part of. We are relentless with our mission to develop the whole player! This past week we had two philanthropies with Tri-City Football. Our kids did a fantastic job of showing up and supporting their community. Our platoon challenge was blindfolded dodgeball. On the surface, this is just fun, but we are taught the value of communication underneath. The events will only get more challenging as July heats up!

URGENT !!! URGENT YOUR HELP NEEDED !!!! 4TH PHASE PARENT GROUP

SCN 4TH PHASE PARENT GROUP

Our resources are depleted, and our stars need your help. We are asking each family to pick up one of the following items below and have their son or daughter bring it in for July. With over 150 players in our program and 3 hours of camp each day it is essential that we keep our athletes nourished and hydrated. Please do your part and donate. We will also be organizing a drop-off date the week of July 10th for bigger orders. Thank you in advance.

OPEN BOOSTERS AND SCN 4TH PHASE POSITIONS MUST GET FILLED.

Our program must be the most represented in all of athletics. Our parents raised over 3,000 dollars for our program this past year because of their volunteering efforts for our boosters. Please consider volunteering for these great opportunities. The boosters group is an all-athletics group that creates opportunities for all sports. Additionally, our 4th Phase desperately needs concessions and other positions filled ASAP. If we do not supply the posts, it will directly impact your child's experience in our program. With out the support of every person, we cannot run the program at the capacity it has been used to. If we do not get the help in the coming weeks, we will have to restructure areas of our program which is not ideal.
