Below is last week's attendance data. Well done to those of you who were in 5 out of 5 days - remember, to be on track you should be currently at 41.2%, or at least in the high 30s.

Young Leaders 2012
Please can you sponsor Matthew McAuley and Natalie Wilson (but especially Matthew McAuley as he's in 11CD)?
So far they have:
- completed an abseil at Segenduunum
- climbed Hellvelyn
- canoed Ullswater
- attained a first aid qualification
They have done all this with a group of young leaders from across the borough.
Along the way they have been raising funds for charity and will continue to be involved in volunteer work with younger students across North Tyneside.
They will also continue to work as young ambassadors for future courses.
See Matthew or Natalie for sponsorship details.
Thank you for your generous support, and well done to Matthew!
Attendance percentages so far this half term
Each day this half term is worth 2.94% of your overall attendance percentage
On the whole I am delighted with the increase in those of you bringing in notes and calling in about why you’re off – the unauthorised attendance has gone right down! Well done you!
However, in order to really annoy Mr Pennock we must now try to raise our attendance overall – so I’m going to focus on you being in ALL OF THE TIME!
I understand that you can’t help it when you get ill, but year 11 is such an important year and you should really drag yourself in whatever. I do. But then perhaps my high standards are too much to ask you to aim for...
I’m going to list weekly attendance info, along with where you should be – below 94% is less wonderful than I’d like, so make an effort to not fall below (or further below) this line please.
The first number will refer to days missed each week, the second to your corresponding total for the ongoing term.
(The following data is for weeks 1 and 2 combined)
So far, you should be at 26.5%

North Tyneside Youth Elections
Voting is an incredibly important right that many people have fought long and hard to achieve - so please make your voice heard and vote considering all of the options and what you care about and believe in.
Information from the North Tyneside website:
Why have a Young Mayor?
- We think it's important that young people are involved in what happens in North Tyneside.
- We want to know what you think about what we're doing to improve the borough and help us make it a great place to live and grow up in.
- Having a Young Mayor means that your views and opinions are always represented when it comes to taking important decisions.
- We hope that by having a Young Mayor, we'll be able to make North Tyneside a much better place for children and young people.
Young Mayor candidates and their pledges:
Isaac Sidney
Isaac's pledge
- I will work closer with transport companies to achieve better transport links for everybody
- Improve sexual health awareness in young people
- Promote sport facilities for young people
James Dutschak Kavanagh
James' pledge
- To ensure every child/young person in North Tyneside receives quality standardised career advice
- To help improve the image and the way in which young people are seen in society, discouraging negative stereotypes and encouraging positive stories
- To ensure quality youth provision for young people of North Tyneside, demonstrating a wide range of activities, clubs and groups. Occasionally working with voluntary/community sector to promote this
Jenny Burnand
Jenny's pledge
- I would try to influence decision makers to ensure cheaper travel for people up to the age of 19
- I would like to work with groups to help young people to become more ambitious and positive
- I would like to make North Tyneside cleaner, greener & safer
Jessica Sproat
Jessica's pledge
- I would like to incorporate lessons into the key stage 4 curriculum to educate us about college, university, apprenticeships and employment (writing CVs, how to apply etc).
- In line with employment I would like to develop links with local shops and businesses to improve employment opportunities for young people.
- More indoor places for young people to go to e.g. cafes
What is the Youth Council?
- The Youth Council is made up of 50 Youth Councillors, who are young people from across North Tyneside who represent the views and ideas of other young people in the borough. The councillors meet monthly to discuss what is happening in North Tyneside and to hear from officers of the council about plans and opportunities to get involved.
- The Youth Council is your opportunity to meet adult councillors and other key decision makers in North Tyneside. This is how you can influence what happens for children and young people in the borough.
- The Young Mayor will choose his or her Cabinet from within the Youth Council, so you also get a chance to be a part of that.
- Through being a Youth Councillor you will also get access to other opportunities such as becoming the UK Youth Parliament member for North Tyneside.
Use your vote wisely!
We will be voting in registration on Tuesday 20th November.
PLEASE REMEMBER...
