Quote Analysis
"And George, while his intelligence was way above normal, had a little mental handicap radio in his ear. He was required by law to wear it at all times. It was tuned to a government transmitter. Every twenty seconds or so, the transmitter would send out some sharp noises to keep people like George from taking advantage of their brains" (Vonnegut 1).
Analysis:
This helps by showing how the government his whole life. Harrison was smarter than all the other citizens, making the government to be able to control his whole life. The transmitter hurt Harrison by sending sharp noises through his ear, which makes him unable to use his brain and think properly. Harrison was born the way he is and the government should have no control over that. he should have the freedom to use his intelligence which ever way he wants.
The Lottery:
"Tessie Hutchinson was in the center of a cleared space by now, and she held her hands out desperately as the villagers moved in on her. "It isn't fair", she said" (Jackson 7)
Analysis:
This helps show how the government is inhumane against their citizens. She keeps saying that it wasn't fair, except society just cares about controlling their population and this is the only way. It is Injustice to have to part take in in your own fate and whether or not you should die. Not a sacrifice willing to take. The government should let people decide an alternative on how they take care of the population.
