The G-Dub Hub

March 2019

From The Principal's Desk

Parent/Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, March 7th. All teachers have sent a link to their sign up times. If you haven't signed up for a time yet, please do so as soon as possible. We have so many wonderful things to share about the progress your child is making. If you are having trouble signing up, give our secretary, Mrs. Campbell, a call and she can get you taken care of.

GREAT NEWS! This class is being offered in Keokuk!

This 20-hour course is designed to meet the requirements for the Substitute Authorization License. Receiving a Substitute Authorization will allow an individual who holds a four-year college degree to substitute in grades PK-12 for no more than five consecutive days in one job assignment and no more than 10 days in a 30-day period in one job assignment for a regularly assigned teacher who is absent, except in the driver’s education classroom.

An individual who holds a paraeducator certificate without a bachelor’s degree and completes the substitute authorization program is authorized to substitute only in the special education classroom in which the individual paraeducator is employed. For these individuals, the authorization will appear on the paraeducator certificate and will not include separate renewal requirements.

School Attendance

Attendance is very important. This includes being absent from school, being tardy/late to school, or leaving school early. Each minute that a student misses will impact their learning and progress. Please make sure your student is at school on-time and make appointments for after school hours. We do send letters and hold meetings for students who have excessive absences and tardies.

Ms. Stevenson, 4th Grade

Ms. Stevenson’s class enjoys a daily read aloud that focuses on the skills that are being taught during Power Hour. Each story reinforces the skills that are being taught during the day and helps aid in comprehension. Students and teachers both enjoy Power Hour very much!

Mrs. Campbell's class has been working on geometry and poetry. So far we have entered three different poetry contests. We are waiting to hear back in the spring if any of the poems were selected to be published.
