What is Visual Merchandising?

Visual Merchandising refers to coordination of all of the physical elements in a place of business that are used to project the right image to the customer.


Storefront is the total exterior of the business.

Ex. Signs, marquees and window displays

Store Layout

Is how a store floor space is used to facilitate and promote sales and to best serve the customer.

Ex. The way clothes are put out, the way the furniture is laid out

Store Interior

After the general placement has been determined store personnel can start to develop the visual merchandising of the store.

Ex. Floor/wall coverings, lighting, colors, etc.
