A Message from Principal Blair

JMS Families,

We are excited to welcome all students back tomorrow, Monday, January 24th. Over the past week, our schools have undergone deep cleaning and sanitizing efforts provided by an outside cleaning agency. In an effort to minimize the spread of COVID 19, JISD campuses will be closed to visitors. We will continue to evaluate and inform you once our campus is open to visitors

I cannot celebrate our staff enough as they continue to provide a welcoming environment to our students and fill in for others in their absence. Please take a few minutes this week to thank a JMS teacher :)

Before and after school tutorial sessions resume tomorrow! Studies show that attending tutorials regularly has a positive impact on student performance. Please review the updated Spring tutorial schedule.

The JHS/JMS Course Selection Guide is now live on the district website. The course catalog will continue to have updates; be sure to refer to the live link for the most accurate information. Our students will soon make course selections for the 2022-23 school year. For more information, please review the registration timeline included in this week's edition.

JMS Counselor's Corner

With the onset of a brand new year, it is often a great time to set brand new goals. While we are in the middle of our school year, this is an excellent time to reflect on our progress toward current goals and possibly set some new ones.

One guide to setting goals is using the acronym SMART. SMART goals are considered to be goals which are:

S—specific

M—measurable

A—attainable

R—relevant

T—timely

Take a few minutes to review the following article that provides guidance to parents with the goal-setting process. Smart Goal-Setting with Students
