Taking Charge ...of your batteries!
This month we want to highlight the importance of basic maintenance on your vehicle's batteries.
Make sure the batteries are:
-clean and free of corrosion (if the corrosion is too bad, TAKE THE BATTERY TO A SHOP!)
-filled with water to proper level
-charged fully when left for extended periods of time
SAFETY is FIRST! When it comes to cleaning your batteries wear safety glasses and rubber gloves. A high-pressure water hose or nozzle should NOT be used on full blast. When filling your battery with a hose, the pressure should be slightly above a trickle. Better yet, use distilled water from a jug.
Extreme negligence of your batteries can cause catastrophic results.
Remember, the batteries are the HEART of ANY RV, be it the multi-million Prevost conversion or the $10,000 ‘pop-up’.
Terminal sealer to protect against electrolysis
Sad, sad neglected battery
