Best Way to Contact Us...
The school is closed due to Governor's orders, so we do not have regular hours. However, there are multiple ways to reach us: Parent Texting Program, Facebook Messenger or email (info@academyadventuresmidtown.com). In addition, teachers were each given a phone for phone calls only (no texting please). Their numbers are listed under "Distance Learning" below. Teachers are available Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM.
**If you have any school related questions or are unable to reach your child's teacher, please contact Mrs. Campbell at 520-342-6883 for assistance.
Campbell's Corner
Hello from all of the staff! We miss you all very much and hope that you and your loved ones are all doing well in these uncertain times. We were saddened by the decision to close schools for the remainder of the school year but look forward to the end of this health crisis currently causing so many problems.
We are, however, very excited by the possibilities of working with our Academy Adventures Midtown families to help each other through this situation while we continue teaching our students!
Teachers have been making packets which are available for pickup every Monday from 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM. We are exploring online options and we are beginning to set up meetings on ZOOM so that teachers and students can work together “face-to-face”. We are also collecting and sharing a multitude of resources available on the internet.
We have several ways that we are using to communicate with our families. We are using our texting program, our Facebook page, email and we are getting the teachers set up with a school-issued cell phone. As soon as the cell phones are up and ready, be watching for a call from your child’s teacher! Please use the texting program or email the school at info@academyadventuresmidtown.com to ensure that we have the most current contact information for you.
Thank you everyone for your continued support and we are still enrolling for the 2020-2021 school year.
Finally, even though the building is closed, SCHOOL IS STILL IN SESSION!!!
Take care and stay safe!
Kindergarten & 1st Grade Class
From the moment I walked into Academy Adventures Midtown, I knew great things were going to happen: lessons to plan, students to nourish, provide a safe place for learning, and overcome obstacles. During this time, we as staff, parents and students are and will overcome any obstacle that is put before us. Now is one of those times! I am saddened to not see my students faces Monday through Friday, but am excited to be working with staff and parents alike to where the focus is and will always be the students.
Weekly packets will continue to be sent home every Monday and can be picked up at the school from 7:30 AM-12:00 PM. Though these packets look mighty, I know that your students are able to explore, color, cut, paste, learn- but most importantly, be a child during these times. You will see some reading comprehension, math, writing prompts, sequencing, and so much more! If there are any questions regarding any of the work, or status updates, please call me (520-247-3771) or email me at mmycek@academyadventuresmidtown.com.
Throughout the upcoming weeks, I will be calling to check in as well. I will also be setting up Zoom meetings! This will give the students an opportunity to interact with me and their classmates face-to-face! Watch your email for a schedule!
There are truly no words to describe how much your students mean to not only myself, but our school. We will continue to provide you with updated information and innovative ways to stay connected.
I miss and love each and every one of my students!
Thank YOU, the parents of my beautiful, strong-willed and amazing students, for all your work and understanding!
2nd & 3rd Grade Class
I hope this newsletter finds you and your family all in good health. Just another reminder to continue to be safe. Please remember the 6ft. rule and 20 second hand washing. Cover your face when you or someone sneezes or coughs, because the virus can be transferred through an airborne sneeze and cough. Please remain safe!
I have been preparing packets for the last few weeks. I have had feedback from one of our parents and she is asking for more work. She wishes to keep her child busy. You may do the same, but if the work load is to much, than you may reduce it to the level you feel comfortable with. It is ultimately up to you as an individual to decide what is prudent for you and your child. Thank you for allowing me the pleasure to prepare work for your children. It is my joy to share my love for learning with my students. Although, for me, right now, the busier I am, the better. I have had a little extra time to work on a few home projects. When I am busy, then I am not worrying. I know physical exercise helps to reduce stress also....so I might as well do my own weeding!
Packets contain roughly one paper a day for Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Grammar. I will include a piece of notebook paper for a writing assignment and the writing assignment directions on a separate piece of paper. I have also included a baggie with a pencil crayons and scissors for each student, which they may use them at your discretion and a baggie with fraction tiles. There is a set of directions inside the fraction baggie to use with the fraction tiles.
I think the students will find it fun placing together the fraction tiles. It is like a puzzle. As for Art, I also included some Tucson and Arizona coloring pages. The students will learn about Tucson, Arizona and the Desert. They can use the crayons to color them. Art can act as a stress reliever and can be a joy at a time when stress is high. Parents, you may even want to have an art time set aside for you and your kids. You may find that participating in an art project or coloring could be a stress reliever for you as well. I will include a few extra color sheets so you may have one as well.
There are plenty of things to do online as well, if you wish to go to any of these student sites.... here are some addresses you might like to check out and share.
- P.B.S.KIds- for Curious George and other programming go to https://pbskids.org

Hopefully, you will have enough to do with your kids during this time. My goal is to provide your kids with diverse learning opportunities.
I miss all my students! Thank you to each one of you for being a wonderful student, each child is wonderful and special in their own way. I have thoroughly enjoyed my class this year. I am sad to miss out on working with them the last few months of school. I know the students are in good care, and you will see to it that they are staying safe, getting a balanced diet, good sleep, exercise, some fun activities and academic stimulation.
Best Wishes to parents and students for the best health and well being, and a wonderful summer to come in a few short months! Have a great April!
4th & 5th Grade Class
I hope that you are all doing well! I miss you all very much and hope you are having fun as well as learning during all of this. I will continue sending review work and I will begin sending new material home in the next week or two. I am working on some face-to-face lessons and meetings so that I can show you how to complete the work I am giving you. I will be sending home some manipulatives for you to use with lessons and to have fun with. Take pictures of what you are doing and email them to the school!
We will continue working with understanding what we read, parts of speech, and writing. We will also continue working with division and fractions. Finally, in science and social studies, I will continue sending work home from our 180 Days books. Are you enjoying the worksheets from the 180 Days books? Give me some feedback please! I am also looking for simple activities and science experiments that you might be able to do at home.
Everyone in my family is doing good and looking forward to returning to our regular schedule. Hello from the Campbell Clan!
Distance Learning...Home Learning...Online Learning...Zoom
These are all phrases we are hearing a lot lately in the education world! It is new to most of us and there is a learning curve, so we appreciate everyone's patience! To be consistent, we will use "Distance Learning" since not all the work is online!
The remainder of the school year will be "Distance Learning". It is Academy Adventures Midtown's goal to provide as many resources and learning support to our families as we can during this time. Packets will continue to be available for those families who would like them every Monday from 7:30 AM-12:00 PM and teachers will have online "classrooms" where materials can be accessed. In addition, teachers are setting up a minimum of three (3) Zoom classes to do a lesson with the students and enable students to interact with each other as well as the teacher.
Teachers have each been given a school assigned phone and they will share their numbers with you so that you can reach them Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-4:00 PM. Please note, these phones cannot be used for texting. If you want to text, you will need to use the texting program already set up. Teachers will be in contact with your and your child via phone at least 1-2 days per week to answer any questions and provide any instructional help needed.
TEACHER ZOOM SCHEDULES
We understand there is some concerns regarding Zoom and reports recently in the media. We are aware of that and are taking the necessary precautions such as: Requiring passcodes to join and implementing a waiting room where the teacher has to give access to anyone wanting to enter. Academy Adventures Midtown is continuing to work hard on the School Improvement Plan to ensure we continue to meet all the requirements from the state! With all State Assessments (AzM2 & AIMS Science) being cancelled this year, our grade will remain the same and we will not be able to improve it for next year. It is frustrating because we know how hard the students worked this year.
If you have any questions regarding school improvement, please speak with Mrs. Campbell or Mrs. Angela.
