Weekend Meals
AISD is providing Weekend Meals each Friday through December for in-person learners. (Remote learners can access free curbside 7-day meal packs from 10 - 1:30 PM each Thursday.)
Please complete the survey below indicating whether you want weekend meals delivered to your child prior to dismissal on Friday afternoons. The survey includes the option to notify the cafeteria on a weekly basis. You may contact Alma Chapa Moore, Asst. Principal, at alma.moore@austinisd.org for further information.
Phase-in Weeks
Thank you for your support as we update our procedures for in-person learning. We are committed to providing quality instruction, connection, and support to our students in both remote and in-person setting! There may be small changes as we move forward, but we expect to keep our schedules the same as much as possible. Some of the potential changes may include: staggered 5 -10 minute staggered lunch times to allow the cafe staff delivery time, 5 minute delayed sign on time for Essential Areas to allow for travel time, and/or regrouping of asynchronous small groups. Our synchronous blocks should not change.

Information For Families of 5th Graders
The Directors of Lively and Kealing Magnet programs, along with the Principal of Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders, have developed a schedule in which they combine their presentations [back-to-back] to provide the most efficient way for 5th grade students and parents/guardians to hear about the unique offerings these programs provide. The time for our Kiker families is on Wednesday, October 28, from 10:00 am - 10:45 am.
Parents/guardians are welcome / encouraged to attend. More information to come. Ms. Fraser, our 5th grade counselor, will continue to share information to support our families preparing for middle school.
Look who got a RAVE (Messages are abbreviated as the GLOWING feedback was long!) Way to go!
Gilliland: Mrs. Gilliland has an amazing ability to "manage the classroom" both virtually and in person, which is no small feat for 1st grade! My daughter has learned so much in the first month of school.
Martin: Ms. Martin holds high expectations in a caring way which encourages my child to want to work hard and do well. Her communication is kind and well thought out.
Bryson: He speaks with enthusiasm and excitement about seeing his students every day--even if it is online. He is very responsive when we have questions.
Prickett: Everyday, Ms. Prickett makes sure to include each student in her lessons. She does " break-out" groups for reading and math as well to individualize the interaction and maximize the learning for each student.
Purcell: She is finding ways to build community and keep the kids excited about learning and “showing up” virtually or physically for class. Ms. Purcell is doing an excellent job of keeping parents informed of changes or action items for the students to make our lives easier.
Martin/Boone/Hall: Thank you to the 5th grade trio of Ms. Hall, Ms. Martin and Ms. Boone. The patience, consistency and dedication each one of you have shown hasn't gone unnoticed. As a family, we appreciate the timely updates and quick call to action to address student needs.
McLaughlin: She comes prepared to the zoom meetings everyday with a smile, music and amazing lessons! She has created an easy to use BLEND page and is always available to help when needed.
R. Vasquez: Your prompt and thorough updates never leave our family with a question of what is going on in class. Your interaction and patience with the kids via zoom is appreciated.
Hall: She has shown amazing patience, dedication and perseverance! She patiently helps students from troubleshooting technology issues, being available during asynchronous learning time and WOW what a Blend page she created for the kids!
Purcell: She is always there to listen and to help. She's placed a priority on students getting to know each other and socialize in our current environment. She is committed to giving them the best experience possible in 2nd grade, no matter the circumstances.
Bredl: Ms. Bredl continually makes learning fun each day! Whether it is over Zoom or in the classroom, she engages the students in everything they do.
Raymond: Mrs. Raymond has done a great job organizing all of our remote learner information in Blend for my daughter's 3rd grade class. It's easy to navigate and has made our learning from home far less stressful.
Torres: Ms. Torres goes above and beyond to keep her students engaged and excited about school. Her door is always open, and she makes each virtual day FUN! She deserves to be recognized.
Hunt: Her patience and composure during the pandemic have been a breath of fresh air. Her kindness truly makes every student feel special and loved.
Hariharan: Ms. Hariharan is such a great teacher. Teaching young kids online is not an easy job. Her online class is so interesting and engaging that my kids enjoy a lot.
Hemmeline: He is somehow making PE on zoom fun and engaging, and he uses his sense of humor to keep the kids' excited and trying their best. My son is so happy to have him at Kiker.
Barr: She is willing to embrace new technologies to keep the kids engaged and does such an awesome job of making sure she answers/solves the kids tech issues.
Krueger: She has so much on her plate and yet she ALWAYS take the time to help us and explain things to us. She is patient, empathetic, and a good person.
E. Vasquez: Eileen is very patient and loving with her students. She spends extra time getting to know them and goes above and beyond to form a relationship remotely!
Blake: Mrs. Blake does an excellent job of being positive and calm and kind . She always highlights the positive about each child, and she holds the kids to a high behavioral standard. It's evident that she cares so deeply about teaching kids the importance of being yourself and being kind, and she models these things for all of the children in her class.
