Longbranch Library Media Center
April has been a fun month. We held our spring Book Fair and we were able to raise money for lots of new books for the library. We read Ant and Grasshopper. After we read the book we practiced our inferencing skills and then tried to find the theme for for the book. It taught us a great lesson that all of us are important and we all have useful skills even though we are different. We also read Sylvester and the Magic Pebble by William Steig. We practiced our reading skills: inferencing, vocabulary, changes in a character, theme.
Reading should not be presented to children as a chore, a duty. It should be offered as a gift. ~ Kate DiCamillo
