Ready for a Strong Finish

I hope this newsletter finds you well after our extended weekend in honor of Memorial Day. While it was wonderful to have some extra time to enjoy the great weather with both families and friends, it's now time to turn our full attention to finishing strong here in our last few weeks. We'll look to also include a few fun events like a modified field day with activities for both our remote only students and our hybrid kids. All activities will follow appropriate guidelines of course.

In the coming weeks we will have a few key dates and events that we want to make sure we communicate and collaborate with you on. Please take a look the rest of the newsletter along with our websites and feel free to reach out with question if you still have any.

Kind regards,

Don Sims

Hedden Elementary Principal

P.S. If you are around this summer and happen to drive by Hedden, you may notice some construction going on. Don't worry, nothing structural, just getting a new roof, gutters, and coat of paint;-)

:-) Chromebook & Materials Drop Off (-:

As we plan for our final few weeks of school we want to make sure that all students continue to have what they need to attend and participate in school, whether that's remotely or in hybrid. To that end we are looking at collecting all Chromebooks either the final day of school, on Friday June 18th from 3:00pm until 7:00 pm, or Monday June 21st, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Along with Chromebooks, families are encouraged to return any outstanding library books and text books students may still have. Hopefully, all students that are in the Hybrid B Group will bring these items on their final day and turn them in before they leave on June 18th.

For our Remote Only and Hybrid A Groups of students and families, we will have three to four staff out in our front lot collecting these items at the curbside. We will have a few signs up to help direct cars and we hope that it will be a quick and easy process (though we have never had to do it in the past;-). Please be patient as we can't anticipate the number of vehicles coming through at any given time.

/-/-/-/-/ End of Year Report Cards \-\-\-\-\

All Kindergarten through 5th grade students have a half day on Thursday, 6/3, so that teachers can begin working on their end of year report cards. All students, both remote and hybrid, will end school at 12:00, while teachers continue their day gathering and documenting the data and information they will include in the report cards coming out later this month.

Please note, the report cards you will see this year will resemble those from mid-year as they will be mostly made of up teacher comments, not showing standard grading of 4's, 3's, 2's, or 1's. This adjustment should only be for this year and is wholly related to the pandemic and the many changes we had to adapt to.

Do you live in the Fife School District and have or know a child who will be 5 years old by August 31st, 2021? We have a recording of a community webinar with Q &A linked below as presented by Discovery Primary School & Fife Elementary School!
