Important Updates!
2022 Course Selections!
8th grade parents/guardians:
Our high school course selection zoom sessions are scheduled for this upcoming Wednesday, May 12th at 1:00pm. We are hoping that all of our 8th grade students, attending BSD high schools, will join the appropriate zoom session to learn more about course scheduling. All 8th grade parents will receive an email shortly with the three high school zoom links. The links will also be posted as an updated on their social studies Schoology page. Please join whichever zoom applies to your family. If you are unsure about which school your student is slated to attend, please reach out to Miss Feder. Parents and students are welcome to attend. Presentations will be recorded and posted for review following the live sessions. Course selection “google docs” will be posted on their social studies Schoology page , as well.
Art Voting - "Talley Tiger Parade"
Our annual “Talley Tiger Parade” contest finalists are up and ready for you to review! Each year, 8th grade art students work to design tigers focusing on different themes. Then in the spring, we invite all students and teachers to vote for their favorite tigers. The winning Tiger will be framed and hung permanently in school for years to come!
Tiger voting will take place on Thursday at the beginning of your 1st period class. We encourage anyone attending in-person to check out the Tiger Parade finalists before the voting time (hanging outside of the auditorium/nurse’s office). Thank you all in advance for helping us find our 2021 winner!!

Journalism Students Create Tiger Tales Volume Two!
Spotlight On: Family Consumer Sciences
This week we focus on Mr. Gallagher's Family Consumer Sciences Class
Although she registers as an experienced Talley teacher, Mrs. Gallagher is sliding right back into her spot in the Talley family by going above and beyond in the Family Consumer Sciences department. Between the FCS class and the FCCLA Club, Talley has been proud to participate in some community outreach programs and educating our young people in the skills that will help them throughout adulthood.
This week the family and consumer science students practiced reading a recipe and measuring ingredients to make exfoliating sugar scrubs to give as Mother's Day gifts. All the students had so much fun with our first kitchen activity. We hope that all the moms enjoy the handiwork of our students!
Bonus Classroom Highlight: Spanish!
Normally this section is reserved for our clubs, however, there is so much happening in our classrooms that we just NEEDED to highlight some other classes.
Students in Señora Anderson's 8th grade Spanish classes are writing to pen pals from Brandywine High School's Spanish Honor Society. They are working really hard this week reading and understanding the letters they received from Brandywine students, as well as writing back...all in Spanish! Kudos to these students who tackled the challenging assignment and got to know older students in our district!
Student Health with Nurse Jackie
8th Grader Parents/Guardians
A physical examination (within 30 days from entry into 9th grade) as well as 1 dose of Tdap (adult booster) and 1 dose of meningococcal vaccine are required prior to entry to 9th grade. Letters were sent home to notify parents/guardians of students who need these immunizations and/or a physical examination. DIAA Physical forms will be required for any “open gyms” in high school, not just for sports. Your student’s primary care provider should use the “DIAA Physical Form” for their 9th grade physical to ensure your student can participate in activities. Please call or email Nurse Jackie with any questions.
Postural Screenings
Nurse Jackie will be conducting postural screenings to screen for scoliosis over the next few weeks. Nurse Jackie will notify parents/guardians of students who need follow up from their primary care provider.
