Principal's Letter

Dear Lake Windward Families,

Happy New Year! 2022 has already provided opportunities of challenge and celebration! While our community is navigating a large surge in Covid-19 cases, we are also celebrating another championship win for our state! Congratulations to all the LWE Georgia Bulldog families for the College Championship Game win on Monday night! While I'm not typically a Dawg fan, I was rooting on our home state's team in this big game! :)

I want to be sure you all are aware that the district's previously published Late Start Days have now been switched to Early Release Days. The district communicated this information to families in December. On January 24, February 28 and March 21 students will be dismissed at 12:20 pm. This will allow our teachers to have valuable Professional Learning Community time in which they will look at students' data and make important planning decisions specific to students' needs.

I am looking forward to another great semester of learning and growing at LWE! Our iReady growth scores for semester one are pretty fantastic. Our students' and teachers' hard work is truly paying off. Thank you for your continued support of our wonderful school!

Warm regards,

Julie Morris

Thank you, Girl Scout Troop 17300!

Last month, our very own 5th grade Girl Scouts, Josie Neely, Charlotte Mattox and Amelia Laake (as well as Brooke Phipps from CVES) saw a need and sprang into action! They decided to take over keeping our planters at the front of the school refreshed with flowers to spruce up the aesthetics when entering our school building. Thank you so much girls!! They look great!

Students will be recognized and will receive a certificate to take home. Below are the names of students who were nominated and recognized for the character trait of Leadership during the month of December:

Café Gator Gram Winners for Quarter 2

Each day, students have the opportunity to earn Gator Grams while dining in the LWE Café. The staff who monitor lunchtime notice when students are being responsible, respectful and safe in the cafeteria and enter individual student's names into a drawing. Students who have earned Café Gator Grams get the opportunity for their name to be drawn in order to select an item from our PBIS Prize Cart. The names are announced on our morning news show each Friday. The following students displayed great café behavior AND were lucky enough to get their names pulled in one of our weekly drawings. Congrats to these students!
