This was the first national level high school tournament to be held in-person since 2019. This event crowns the BP Champions, and also serves as a qualifier for various British competitions such as the Oxford Cup, the Cambridge Schools Tournament, and the International Competition for Young Debaters. Covid (or not!) Corner Updates: On November 14, 2022, Montreal Regional Public Health provided a flowchart (in English and in French) that will help you to determine when to keep a child home from daycare or school. Parents can use this guideline, in addition to the guideline for limiting the spread of upper-respiratory infections, when making the decision to keep a child home. Public Health still advises anyone with symptoms to wear a mask and anyone who has tested positive for Covid to wear a mask for 10 days after the test result. At Selwyn House, we encourage our staff and students to take the extra precaution of wearing a mask at school in the days following a positive Covid test result, even if you are non-symptomatic.

Student Leadership & Experiential Education
Founder’s Festivities - Theme: The 1980s at Selwyn House: This week, the school celebrated its 114th anniversary! The theme was “The 1980s at Selwyn House.” Since this year’s Speirs medalist, Ms. Carol Manning, began her career at Selwyn House in the 1980s and the Speirs medal itself was first awarded in the same decade, we brought students back in time to connect them to our history! Through an interactive 80s exhibit, slideshows of photos from 80s yearbooks, trivia and our annual Founder’s Day assembly, we hope the boys enjoyed a taste of what SHS was like back then!
Socials with Girls Schools: There are currently two social opportunities for students in the coming weeks:
Grade 11s only - November 29 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM - Salsa Dance Lessons (sign up form)
Grade 9s and 10s only - December 2 from 7:00 - 10:00 PM - ECS Holiday Hangout (sign up form)
Ski Club: Our ski club has once again organized ski/snowboard trips for Selwyn House students. The only requirement is that participants have skied/boarded a minimum of 3 times in the past. While we would like to be able to bring everyone, these trips do fill up quickly. We will accommodate students on a first-come, first-served basis. Names will then be added to a waiting list in the order that we receive them. If you are interested in having your son participate, please fill out the following google form by December 16. For any additional questions, please contact Ms. Segal
Community Engagement: Selwyn House and the Contactivity Centre have partnered up again to put together our annual holiday music video. This year's song will be "Frosty The Snowman". We are looking for students and teachers to participate in this year's video through singing, dancing, classroom participation etc. Click here to sign up and if you have any questions, reach out to Ms. Segal.
