Over the past few weeks our teaching staff have been concentrating on writing mid year reports.
Writing reports takes a lot of thought and a lot of consideration. Teachers need to use pieces of assessment and other information including observations of the student to make judgements about how they’re progressing in relation to the New Zealand curriculum. Our New Zealand curriculum is made up of levels. Students are expected to be achieving within their appropriate level for the class level they are in. All people are different and learn at different rates. Our goal is to take a student from where they are now and move them to their next step as they progress within the curriculum levels. The mid year reports go home on Friday 9 July. Parent/student and teacher interviews will take place in week 2 of term 3. We always look forward to this time to expand on what we have written in the reports and answer questions you may have about your child’s learning. I encourage you to ensure you book in a time to meet with your child’s teacher next term. Keep an eye out for the alert with the interview link for booking a time.

Faith Fact
On Monday 28th of June the Church celebrates the Feast of St Irenaeus. He was the Bishop of Lyon in France from c. 177 to 202. He is important to the Church in Aotearoa New Zealand because he was ordained as bishop by St Polycarp, who had in turn been ordained by St John the Evangelist (one of the twelve apostles). A later Bishop of Lyon, Jean-Baptiste Pompallier brought the Catholic faith to New Zealand in 1838. (Pictured right)
