Dear Parents and Students,
If you've been following the news, you've seen that there is a current spike in Covid cases. The same is true for our community and school. Regarding household exposures: If someone in your household has tested positive for Covid, please alert the school. If your child is vaccinated and symptom free, they may continue to attend school. Unvaccinated students will need to quarantine. Quarantine starts on the last exposure to the positive person during their isolation period, even with a negative test result. Also, please take some time to refresh yourselves on the Covid safety guidelines at the bottom of this memo. We're all in this together!
Please check Teacher Ease for your child's current grades. Semester 1 ends on January 27, and Report Cards will come out shortly thereafter. Students must be passing ALL of their classes in order to earn their 4 credits for Semester 1. An INC or INC+ is NOT a passing grade and will NOT earn credit. Finish strong, Cards!
FINALS EXAMS for Semester 1! Jan 24 - 27. Make sure you're prepared!

Covid 19 Testing Requirements
Recently the Washington State Department of Health in working with the WIAA updated guidelines around high school athletics and testing requirements. Please read below the latest announcement from the DOH below.
In response to recent sports-related outbreaks, the testing requirements for high-risk sporting activities has been updated to require screening testing of all athletes, coaches, trainers and supporting personnel, regardless of vaccination status. Further, the testing frequency has increased to 3 times weekly. Among those screening tests, at least one must occur no sooner than the day before the competition; ideally and whenever possible, the day of the event.

Boys Basketball Update:
01/05/22
Lakewood, WA...........The Franklin Pierce Boys basketball team resumed their season after taking more than two weeks off due to the holiday break and inclement weather in the Pacific Northwest. The Cardinals came out slow, sluggish and out of rhythm as they traveled to Clover Park High School. The under-rated host Warriors were aggressive and physical early as they dominated the Cardinals' glass and severely outrebounded the #7 State ranked Cardinals. The Cardinals got down as many as 11 early in the 1st half before Senior leader Johnjohn "I Got Straight A Game" Barbee scored 12 straight points. The Cardinals looked to carry some momentum into intermission on back-to-back steals and scores by Junior forward Brandon "Bee-hive" Bibbins, the 6'4 forward with 7 points.
The third quarter all season has been the breakout quarter for the Cardinals. However, the Warriors came out in a soft 2-3 zone which proved very effective in slowing down one the of state's top scoring teams. The physical play of the game had both coaches non-stop lobbying for calls and barking at the referees. The game see-sawed back and forth and a big corner 3-point bomb from Freshman point guard Javon "Baby" Barbee as the shot-clock was winding down stretched the Cardinal lead to 5 with just over 3 minutes to play. Down the stretch, the Cardinals turned to their Senior leader, Johnjohn Barbee and put the ball in his hands and he showed why he's leading the league finishing with 37 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals. The Cardinals connected on their free throws down the stretch and came out with the win. Final Score: FP-63 CP-57. With the win, the Cardinals move to 5-0 on the season and 4-0 in conference play. Next game is Friday, January 7th, 2022 on the road against a tough White River team that is ranked in the state's top 10. Early tipoff for the boys' game at 5:15pm.
Complete box score: Ja.Barbee-9, Thomas-10, Bibbins-7, Jo.Barbee-37.
