Raider Nation Staff Newsletter
Welcome Back to 2020 - 2021
It's Going to be a GREAT YEAR!
Hello Raider Nation,
Welcome to a new school year! Once again thank you all for the way you handled our most unique end of year closing. I am looking forward to your continued flexibility and understanding as we venture into our virtual opening of the 2020 - 2021 school year.
A huge thank you to the staff members who ventured out today in the morning rain to help with the collection of textbooks and other items from last school year. We have another collection day this coming Friday, August 21. Please email Adrienne Nasir if you are able to assist.
As you all know, our shift to a virtual opening has created a significant amount of work regarding student and staff schedules, materials collection, and ultimately material distribution once school begins. Words cannot express the inordinate amount of work our school counselors have endured to make certain that our open is a smooth one regarding student schedules. Moreover, the amount of time devoted by our new Special Education Team Leader, Nick Johnson, has been extraordinary as he worked to catch up in light of his late appointment. All of this to say that the work behind the scenes to have things ready for our opening has been a team effort. I am so proud to be a part of this staff as each of you, in your own way, contributed to make our transition to this uncharted virtual world as smooth as possible.
Below you will find two very important pieces of information -- our schedule for August 25 - September 4 and our meeting schedule for the year (through January 2021). I have tried to limit the number of meetings at the school level knowing that several meetings at the district level have been scheduled for you. School-based virtual meetings are in GREEN, Central office (curriculum) meetings are in BLUE, teacher work day (planning) time is in RED. The meeting schedule for the school year is based upon the designated times mandated by HCPSS. Please review the schedule and make note of the times of our school-wide and committee meetings.
We are currently working on a schedule for building access during the August 25 - September 4 timeframe. I will share this information with you during our staff meeting on Tuesday. The building will “officially” open for virtual instruction on September 8. I cannot stress enough how important it is that you NOT enter the building without notifying an administrator (Samuel Richman) and receiving approval to do so. Again, we will publish a schedule of when the building is open next week for access by staff and beginning September 8, there will be a sign-up process to monitor the number of staff members electing to teach virtually from school.
Once again, thank you all for being such a great staff! Your flexibility and willingness to pitch in and help is truly appreciated. I miss you all and more importantly I am so thrilled with the outstanding additions to our staff. I hope you had a wonderful summer and I am looking forward to our virtual meeting on Tuesday and hopefully seeing many of you in person during our building hours over the next two weeks!
WELCOME BACK!
Robert
