Roosevelt Information

A few reminders so you can stay in the know:

~ No School tomorrow, Friday, November 12. This is a day that teachers use to prepare report cards and work samples for our upcoming parent-teacher conferences.

~ Conferences are upon us! Conferences are scheduled for November 16, 18 and 22. Please enter Door #8 when you arrive at your child's conference, as this will be the only door open during conference times. There will be hand sanitizer and masks available at this entrance. We will not have Child Care available during conferences, so if you have younger children who need care during a conference, please strongly consider requesting a virtual conference. In many ways, a virtual conference can be just as productive and efficient as an in-person conference. Virtual is also a great option if you don't love wearing a mask. If you have not yet signed up for a conference, please do so using this link.

~ The Roosevelt Book Fair will also be held on November 16, 17, and 18 in the Roosevelt gym (November 16th and 18th from 2:30pm to 8:30pm (during conferences) and November 17th from 2:30pm to 5:30pm).

Again, Door #8 will be the only door open, so please use this door to enter and exit the book fair. Please use hand sanitizer when you enter, and please mask up upon entering. Extra masks will be available should that be needed. Typical Scholastic book orders are taking a very long time to fill, so be thinking of any gifts you may want to purchase for the holidays and buy them at the book fair! Here is the online link if you are planning to order via the online link. More book fair information below.

Book Fair Information

Dear Parents and Families:

We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. Hosted by our PTO, this event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school.

After missing out on many beloved traditions, our fall Book Fair will be a familiar, welcome, and safe event for our students. Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place in the gym November 16th and 18th from 2:30pm to 8:30pm (during conferences) and November 17th from 2:30pm to 5:30pm:

•Our Book Fair offers a cash-free payment option called eWallet. It’s a convenient digital account that your child can use for shopping at our Fair. Grandparents, friends, and others can contribute, too!

• If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop online at our school’s Virtual Book Fair. This is a great option if you plan to have a virtual conference!!! All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.

Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping:

We’re excited to celebrate our love of books together at the Book Fair. We look forward to seeing your child there! If you would like to volunteer to help set up or work the fair, please visit the fair homepage above or email Jamie at Jamie.Malvin@gmail.com!

Happy reading!

Birthday Book IDEAS!!!! Take a peek!!!

With district wide budget cuts, our library book budget has been severely reduced. We are still dedicated to filling the Roosevelt Media Center with the latest new releases that kids are excited to read. If you are donating a Birthday Book, please consider some of these titles (see below) to help us keep our collection up to date and filled with great reads! Each week we will share new titles, so please consider a Birthday Book donation to the Roosevelt Media Center using some of these suggestions. Your child's teacher has all of the Birthday Book information, so be looking for that coming home in your child's birthday month. And don't worry...teachers will communicate with you if your child has a summer birthday! :-)

MN Safe Learning Survey

For parents/families:

To provide a picture of the landscape in education across Minnesota this school year, the University of Minnesota is working with the Minnesota Department of Education to gather information from educators, students (grades 6-12), and families regarding their experiences with schooling. This anonymous survey is being administered at three different times this year: February, May, and October 2021. Please consider taking 5 minutes to respond. Data will be reported publicly at a state level, and school Districts and Charter schools will receive local information to compare against the statewide data. We know that surveys do not solve problems, but your input can help identify potential solutions moving forward. Thank you for your consideration in taking this survey by November 24:

For parents/families:
