It was a proud day to be a Mustang.

- Andrew Camp - won the individual district title and all seven boys placed in the top fifteen in the varsity race.
- Catherine Sims, Olivia Theall, and Faith Brothers, went 1-2-3 in the girls race. They were followed by a quartet of freshmen girls and the all seven finished in the top ten.
- We had the individual winner in all five races, with: Preston Hoover (JV Boys), Alyssa Bob (JV Girls), Brycen Jones (Freshmen Boys), taking the top spot in each race.
Our Cross Country teams competed in October at the Region III Competition in Huntsville.
- Our girls team qualified for the State Meet in Round Rock on November 3rd, as the runner-ups for Region III in the team results, beating Magnolia by five points. This is the first time the girls team has been to State since 2013, so they're very excited.
- Our boys team ran their hearts out but missed qualifying for a trip to Round Rock by 1 point. We were .1 seconds away in one situation, less than a half-second in a another. Our kids gave it their all in both divisions, and we couldn't be more proud of the hard work they've put in this season!
- Important lessons were learned and we appreciate all the support from this past weekend's send-off throughout town. We did have two boys qualify individually, Andrew Camp and Julian Cuellar. We also had Catherine Sims finish 10th overall in the girls race. The rest finished as a pack in the 27th-46th place range.
Congratulations to our girls team finished 13th in the State of Texas. With 6 of them coming back we are looking forward to building on that for next year.
- Catherine Sims was our top girl with a 51st place finish in a field of 149 runners.
- Faith Brothers, Olivia Theall, Jocelyn Green, Callie Farrar, Jocelyn Green, and Grace Etzel were the other six runners on the girls team.
Our two boys that ran had a great day.

- Julian Cuellar finished 52nd in a field of 150 runners.
Swimming & Diving
The mighty Mustang swim team kicked off the 2018-19 swim season with their annual FISD Sprint Kickoff meet at the FHS Natatorium. 8 total teams were here competing in this meet, Clear Brook, Alvin, Pearland, Clear Creek, Clear Springs, Clear Lake, Clear Falls & FHS Mustangs. Results were tremendous for our 1st meet of the season.
The meet kicked off with the diving competition on Friday 10/5 night. Lily Ellis for the Mustang girls took 1st place and established a new pool & team record for 6 dives with 253.40 points. On the boys side, Mustangs Gabriel Costa placed 2nd with a score of 242.85 and John Keith placed 3rd with a score of 161.30. Outstanding diving Mustangs!
Saturday 10/6 the swim portion of the Sprint Kickoff Meet was also very successful for the FHS Mustang swimmers. With close to 300 swimmers competing in the swim portion, Mustang swimmers were either winning their events or finishing in the top 8 places. Top swimmers for the girls were Olivia Theall, Alison Proulx, Ana McHenry, Mara White and newcomers Lezli Sisung, Leah Givens and Abigail Nelson leading the way in scoring for their individual events and relays. All of the rest of the girls had fantastic swims too in their events dropping time and establishing new personal best times in events. As a result of this great swimming the girls team took 1st place in the swim/dive FISD Sprint Kickoff meet.
The boys team had a very successful day also. All boy swimmers were establishing new personal best times and swimming great, also finishing in many of the events top 8 finisher times. Top swimmers for the boys team that help get most of the team points were Max Hardt, Josh Haffelder, Vinnie Gangitano, Joe Sloan, Nick Jankowski and newcomers T.J. Sisung and Nathan Haney. The boys team did fall a few points short to Clear Creek for 1st place and finished 2nd place.
Overall it was a great start to a very promising season for the Friendswood H.S. 2018-19 swim season. Coach Whitsett and Coach Sikkema are very pleased with the results and are very excited about the upcoming swim/dive season.

Signing Day
Boys Basketball
On November 13th the Mustangs kicked off their basketball season against former district rival and fellow FM 2351 road sharer Clear Brook. The first game of the season featured some fresh faces taking the floor for the first time for your 2018-2019 Boys Basketball squad. When the ball tipped, the Mustangs only had one kid from last years squad who started on the floor (Gracen McGregor). Those starting for the first time in a 7:30 game were Ian Bivins (Sr.), Hudson Bockart (Jr.), Thomas Hamre (Sr.), and Cole Kelly (So.).
The game was a defensive juggernaut in the first quarter, with the Mustangs taking a 13-5 lead at the end of 1. In the second, both teams continued their struggles from the floor, and at the half, the Mustangs led 17-11. The third quarter featured a couple of nice runs by both teams, which led the game to get all tied up as it headed to the fourth. Clear Brook jumped out to an early lead in the fourth and looked as if they would cruise easily to a victory on the road. The Mustangs fought back, though, even after being down by as much as six. The Mustangs had a chance to tie it up at the buzzer, but unfortunately for the Mustangs, the shot just grazed off the front of the rim. Clear Brook was able to get out of FHS with a season opening win, by a final of 43-40. The boys were 10 of40 from the field and missed 16 free throws (10 in the 4th), which ultimately led to the Mustangs ending up on the wrong side of the score board. Thomas Hamre led the Mustangs in scoring with 10.
On Monday, the JV got their first victory of the season with a 20 point victory of the Wolverines. Freshman B also got their first victory on the young season with a good win against a feisty Brook B Team. Sophomore and Freshman A fought hard, but ultimately came up short.
Congratulations athletes for you hard work!
