Gearing Up for School Year 2018-19!

The first day of school is Tuesday, September 4 and it will be a half-day. Doors at DTM open at 8:40am and dismissal will be at 12:10pm. (Dismissal on full days is at 3:35pm.)

Please Note: The parking lot will be congested, especially the first week… so plan to arrive early if at all possible.

School dismisses at 3:35 pm (half days at 12:10 pm)

· Bus transportation is provided only to students residing in the DTM service area. Buses drop of students using the drive opposite McAras Ct.

· Families driving students to/from school must enter from Cadillac St. Parking and drop-off are available behind the school.

· The parking lot is very busy during drop-off and pick-up times. Arriving early reduces the time spent waiting in line. If you park, back into a spot if you can in order to get out more easily.

· If your contact information (phone number, address, etc.) changes during the school year, please call the DTM Main Office to update it.

Possible Late Enrollment Opportunity

There may be a few remaining slots available in the Montessori for Flint classrooms. If you are interested and have not yet enrolled, please complete the application (available at Montessori for Flint ) as soon as possible, and contact Parent Liaison, Elizabeth Jordan at (810) 610-7209 or who can answer questions and help assist you.

Montessori For Flint August Advisory Meeting

Friday, Aug. 17th, 4pm

1518 University Ave Flint, MI 48504

Advisory meetings are open to all parents/guardians as well as teaching staff and Flint schools administration. Those who are interested are welcome and encouraged to become involved by attending if you are able. Advisory meetings are held the third Friday of each month at 4pm. Meetings are usually in the Durant Tuuri Mott school library (1518 University Ave - entry through the main entrance). Please mark your calendar and plan to join us for the next Advisory meeting. Meetings are the best way to get information, share ideas, help shape the future of Montessori for Flint, and ensure sustainability for this high-quality programming for our children and our community.

Materials Still Needed for 2018-19

We are stocking the practical life activities in the new Kindergarten and existing Pre-K classrooms. Special objects needed include old silver pieces and leather shoes, jackets, or other items for polishing. We can also use everyday objects from around your house like various locks with keys or working flashlights to take apart and reassemble. If you have items to contribute, please contact Elizabeth Jordan at or (810) 610-7209. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Needed: Quality Substitute Teachers

Montessori for Flint is seeking talented, dedicated individuals who are interested in being available as subsititue teachers for the Montessori classrooms at DTM in 2018-19. Having at least 90 hours of college credit is a requirement, and knowledge of Montessori philosophy is strongly preferred. To register, visit PESG (the company that coordinates subs for Flint Community Schools) at iif you or someone you know is potentially interested. Please register as soon as possible. If you could be a good fit for the program but do not yet have Montessori training there are training options available. Contact Elizabeth Jordan at or (810) 610-7209 for more info.
