A Message from Dr. Stone
Good evening!
We had a fantastic time tailgating at Legacy Monday to cheer on our 7th grade Football Teams. We loved wearing our WC jerseys and supporting on our Timberwolves!
6th graders in Orchestra have their showcase tomorrow if you want to come and listen to all of the progress that they have made!
I hope everyone is having a great week!
Regards,
Dr. Melinda Stone

ID Badge Notice
Parents-
As you are undoubtedly aware, Katy ISD requires students at the secondary level to wear identification badges during the school day. The ID badge is to be worn where it is easily visible throughout the day.
When students do not have their IDs, they are to report to the cafeteria in the morning, or the AP office throughout the day, to obtain a temporary ID. If a student misplaces their ID, they can purchase one for $3 in the library.
We have noticed many students are not obtaining a temporary ID or replacing their lost IDs. Because this is an important safety measure, the campus administration has been exploring ways to intervene with this trend. Beginning this week, students will be notified that starting next week, random “ID sweeps” will be conducted during class periods to identify students who are not wearing their ID or a temporary ID. Those students will be automatically assigned a lunch detention.
We appreciate your help in talking to your student about the importance of wearing ID badges.
Pennies for Patients
Pennies for Patients is next week!
Pennies for Patients is a fundraising event that is sponsored by National Junior Honor Society, and we are raising money for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This organization researches and raises awareness for cancers of the blood. Our campus goal is to raise $8,000 for LLS.
How can you help??
1. NJHS students will be collecting spare change and dollar bills in the am and pm car rider lines. Please bring your spare change and donate!
2. Students will be able to “Buy Out” of doing classwork on Friday Oct. 18th if their class raises $20.
3. The top earning class will receive a full catered Olive Garden lunch. The 2nd top earning class will win a Domino’s pizza lunch. Send in money for your student for each class period on Friday 10/18.
4. Your child’s teacher will accept cash, checks made payable to LLS, and coins.
Last year, we were the 2nd top earning school in Katy ISD and the entire Gulf Coast region! Let’s see if we can earn the TOP spot this year!
Choir Spirit Night - October 16th
Volunteer for Junior Achievement
On Wednesday, November 20th, we will have the 6th grade JA Global Marketplace program. This program requires community volunteers to lead pre-planned sessions that help to educate and inspire young people to understand their role in the global economy and be ready for the workforce. The event will take place from 8:40 a.m. to 3:55 p.m.
A JA representative will host three online trainings prior to the event and those dates will be shared soon. Also, JA provides all materials for the program.
If you have volunteered in the past, we hope that you will join us again this year to help inspire a new group of 6th graders.
For questions, please contact Kelly Watkins at kellymwatkins@katyisd.org
We hope to see you in the classroom!
