What They Do?
When responding to an emergency, firefighters are responsible for connecting hoses to hydrants, operating the pumps that power the hoses, climbing ladders, and using other tools to break through debris. Firefighters also enter burning buildings to extinguish fires and rescue individuals.
Education and Training
Being a Firefighter requires:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Emergency Medical Services Training Certificate
- Training in the Academy
- Pass a written and physical test
- 18 years or older
In order to become Fire Chief you need to:
- Be promoted throughout your career
- Possibly go to school during your career

Job Market & Job Outlook
Employment of Firefighters is projected to grow 5% from 2014 to 2024. Competition for jobs will likely be strong. Texas Employment during 2012 wa at 23,1300. National Employment was at 303,200.
Salary
While Training: $19.19 per hour ($39,915)
Upon Graduation: $24.42 per hour ($50,794)

"Every day is different; you work a 24 hour shift. Doing that shift you could respond to fires, emergency medical calls and other types of calls were you would help people in need. You will eat and sleep at the station while being ready to respond to calls at a moments notice. You will train to prepare for the many different types of incidents that you will need to be competent in."
Conclusion
This career is something I would really consider. I would consider it because it is well payed and also i don't have to go through so much in order to become one.
