What's happening this week...

Reading- . Our Story is Dear Juno in our Reading Street books. We are working on Friendly Letters in our writing to go along with this story. We have learned the FIVE parts of a Friendly Letter: Heading, Greeting, Body, Closing and Signature.

Language Arts- This week's spelling patterns is the long o sound. We will continue with pretests. Your child will only do homework for the spelling words they missed. They must turn in their pretest with their homework. I am trying to get a sense of what the students know before they take their pretests and study their words as it will help me design lists and lessons for them.

This week we are discussing verb tense. Point out verbs as you or your child uses them. The more they think these things are important to you, they will become important to them.

Math-- Our test over double digit addition with and with out regrouping is Wednesday. They all are doing so well with this concept. The only area I see that needs improvement is the simple addition component. It takes a long time for some of our student to work the problems because they do not know the addition facts. Next week we will start on SUBTRACTION.

*Remember to practice math facts every day. It is so important that they are fluent in those facts. Use Xtramath.org, Moby Max, or Flash Cards...whatever works best for your child.

Social Studies/Science--We wrapped up our Creek and Cherokee unit today with our test. I got a really good feeling about it while looking through the tests as students turned them. We start Matter tomorrow. I love this Science Unit!! Lots and lots of experiments!
